What did you give as a gift for Christmas?

Much time and effort (not to mention money) is put into selecting a gift for someone for Christmas. If I were to ask most people what they got for Christmas last year or two years ago, I think most would not remember. I don't really recall all of the gifts I received last year. So much thought and time, so little rememberance.
Did you give something that you hope someone will remember? Please share with us what you gave and why you gave it. It doesn't matter if it was big or small. As the saying goes, "It's the thought that counts".
What are your thoughts?

Joyfully,
Martha

I bought my brother and his new wife tickets to the Tragically Hip concert. My brother has loved the Hip since he was little, but has never been able to see them live and he couldn't afford the tickets this year because it was only a couple of weeks after their wedding. So I bought him tickets to his first Hip concert and on top of that it was their first concert together. I bought my other brother a Black Sabbath box set, came with 8 CDs and 1 DVD because he loves Sabbath. My father and I bought my mother a new TV and DVD player and I bought my dad a new DVD player for his TV. I bought my son a drum set, an air hockey table and just other little things.

I got a mini-fridge for christmas this year. And I remember what I got for the last couple of years. Last year was a TV, the year before was a DVD player and the year before was a computer. Yes...I'm a hopelessly spoiled child. It's terrible, I know.

I find present buying so difficult. My brother is the easiest... he always tells me loadsa things that he wants so I just pick one and he is happy :). My mum and dad can never think of anything. So I got my mum this computer game because its made by Sid Meier and she loves him and also the second book in a series because she just finished the first. For my dad I got him a couple of history books... had no idea if he would like them or not but he did *phew*!

I gave a friend a T-shirt (damn if those Hot Topic shirts aren't expensive!), another friend a gel candle and some 'misfortune cookies,' yet another friend a manga, and I gave both of my sisters a $25 gift certificate to one of those Build-a-Bear workshop things.

Speaking of Christmas gifts, did anyone hear about that 21 year old guy, I think it was in Alberta or something, who's parents didn't buy him any presents for Christmas and so he burned down their house? Someone's got a parental complex...

I got my husband a laser level and some tools,a nice set of PJ's because he works away from home and has to stay in a room with another guy. I got my mom a sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet, I got my dad and step-mother a wicker wall towel rack and a trio clock set. I got my daughter two new crystals for her collection,a set of Pj's and a musical snowman snowglobe. I got my son a berber sweater and some tools, I got my son-in-law a denim deer shirt. I got my grandsons way TOOOO much. Keyboards, walkmans, computer games,cd's,train sets, books, and I'm sorry to say the list goes on...lol. I tend to spoil them. I save for Christmas all year long and shop for Christmas all year long if I see something I think they'd like I try to get it.

While I love Christmas shopping, I didn't get to do it this year, because I was too broke (I'm trying to save money to get myself out of debt, and over to the US with Maize and the kids). I have a lot of family to buy for...I thought about just buying for all the kids this year, and even that was out of my league. *sigh* Hopefully next year...

I gave a friend a book and a game, a family member music, and my mother a "custom" translation of James so that she could have a translation that she, and only she, would have.
