Whether you are a theist or atheist or whatever.
What do you think you would be (faith system or non faith system) other then what you are now? And Why?

You can get more specific then what I noted and pick the actual religion/belief system.
To make it more interesting pick something outside of your belief system.
For example:

If you hold an Eastern Based belief system; you may not choose something in the Eastern Based umbrella noted on this forum. You don't have to stick to this. Just trying to make it more interesting.

If I wasn't Taoist, I'd probably be pagan or Wiccan... I still have influence from them in my life, but not enough to consider myself such.

I would probably be paganish or buddist mostly because I really like the eastern thinking style

Oops. I goofed. I just read the poll question and misunderstood it. I thought you were asking what belief system I consider myself to be now. If very many other people misunderstood, you won't get very accurate results. But maybe they're all a bit brighter than I am.

But, since I'm here...

If I were to remain a Christian (but not a Latter-day Saint), I guess I'd go for Catholicism. It would be a hard move, but I think I'd be drawn to it more than to any of the Protestant denominations.

If I were to depart from Christianity entirely (again, a totally unlikely scenario), I'd probably lean towards the Bahi'i Faith. I like their tolerant attitude. Then again, maybe I'd make a good pagan. I sort of have always had a feeling that all of God's creations (plants, animals, etc. etc. etc.) are, in a sense, living. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that that's a pagan belief, but if it is, it would fit me. Besides, I'd love to go around saying, "Blessed be." :)

Don't anybody get any ideas, though. I'm totally right with where I am right now!

God bless,
Blessed be,

Kathryn

Inside the umbrella of Abrahamic, if I were of another religion, I would probably be an extremely orthodox Jew...

Outside, I would be a Druid, drat the lack of knowledge.

If I were not atheist or agnostic, Judaism , or what I know of it, fits in with my idea of what a religion for all people should be.
What little of it's dogma I do have knowledge of does not severely insult my sensibilities even as an atheist. It appears to me to be a simple and straight forward religion of common sense ideas that I could adapt to without too much trouble. Any peoples who could go through what the Jews did for thousands of years and still to this day hold so tight to their heritage have to be doing something right. To be brought to the brink of utter extinction and carry their legacy through those who would see them destroyed ,rebuild , reteach, take what little they could get and build a nation such as Isreal, has my respect.

Ok, I'm breaking my own rules. Here is my preference in order. If I wasn't Catholic:

1. Eastern Orthodox
2. Church of Christ
3. Mormon---was mormon for like 9 months. Hold a special place in my heart.
4. Deist
5. Atheist

Well, I'll break your rules, too, then. If I wasn't (Eastern) Orthodox I'd go:

1.Oriental Orthodox (probably Coptic to be specific - I don't actually think their Christology is different to ours, though the language used is)
2.Roman Catholic (Almost certainly Eastern Rite, though, as I don't really care for the post-Vatican II mass and can't imagine wanting to use a Tridentine Mass in Latin either, which kind of excludes the RC traditionalist splinter groups)

That's about it for Christian groups as all the others seem to hold to sola scriptura to one degree or another, which I find absolutely indefensible. If I were to leave Christianity (unthinkable), I'd continue the list:

3. Mahayana Buddhist (probably Zen).
4. Vajrayana Buddhist (I was a practicing Karma Kagyu Buddhist for a couple of years, but I'd put this below Zen nowadays because of some issues I have with certain practices and beliefs)
5. Sufism (I like the spirituality, which is not too dissimilar to Orthodox hesychasm, but I unfortuantely disagree a great deal with the underlying religion).

Obviously, I'm not about to change but maybe someone's interested. I voted Eastern in the poll.

If I was not Church of england ( with heretical views) I would probably be Catholic with even more heretical views.

Maybe I've been melting in the heat too long, but I'm not sure I understand the question.

I'm a Christian (born again type) and it's not really tied to a specific religion so if I could be something else, it would mean my belief in God was no more. In which case, I'd be an atheist.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one confused about the question! ( I thought the choice had to be totally different from........) - which means I went for Buddhist - like; I have a great respect for Buddhism - the philosophy is wonderful.:)

whoops I put secular, didn't really read it properly, sorry.

I think actually I would be of an eastern religion, probably buddhism. Not totally sure why, it's one of those more non-threatening religions. If everyone in the world were buddhist there'd be no problems! I reckon.
