What does 'almighty' mean to you?

The Emperor of Mankind

Currently the galaxy's spookiest paraplegic
What does the term mean to you when applied to God e.g. 'Almighty God'? Is it an attribute? A description? What does it tell you about God's nature?

Are there any synonyms which would describe God's nature just as well?

I believe it is a made up word. So what do I think the original word which turned into "almighty" means? Good question! :) I will think about it.
The Earth has a center. Everything on the Earth shares the Earth and only imaginings can get a person off it.
I looked it up. Thank you for making me.
The Hebrew word is related to the word for land.
In Revelation it is a word which comes from two words, "every" and "might".
So I think it means; everybody's might is YHVH.

What does the actual word almighty mean? I think it means I can do whatever I please.
Mankind is in God's image. Can mankind do whatever mankind pleases?
Also, why would God tell us to be humble and also to imitate the god?

But does the Bible teach it? WHO are they that wish God to be like that?

Good question. I believe it means that you are able to do anything. It is what makes up god. If there were a higher, i.e. more powerful, being than that being would be considered "Allmighty God". Perhaps if you dont believe in any god and are an atheist, then the most powerful human or the most powerful animal would be god?

It means that He has all power over all people, places, and things.

The problem with that is God does not stop a person from sinning against another (innocent) person which makes God look bad. Then God is not almighty over God's own public image.

If you want to get technical, the OT uses the word "shad·dah'·ē" which means..."
  1. almighty, most powerful
    1. Shaddai, the Almighty (of God)
That means that there is not a more powerful entity in existence.

The NT uses "pän-to-krä'-tōr" which also means....
  1. he who holds sway over all things
  2. the ruler of all
  3. almighty: God
Jesus is called "mighty god" in the NT but only the Father is called "Almighty" in the whole of scripture.

So, in the Hebrew Scriptures, Jehovah is referred to as “Almighty” (Shad·daiʹ) 48 times, including 7 times as “God Almighty” (’El Shad·daiʹ), and in the Greek Scriptures 10 times as “Almighty” (Pan·to·kraʹtor).

In what may be thought of as traditional theology God is omnipotent and yet cannot act against his will.

God is Almighty, thus all power and might are in him. And as I think of it, all power is God. All submission is in God and is God. We see this in Jesus' life.

Our own children are made in our own image also, and we want them to grow, to learn from us too.

Do we want them to do whatever they please?
