What does having faith mean to you?

What does having faith mean to you?. Is it a belief in God?, or a God or a higher being?. Or does it mean nothing? Just curious.

Belief in something without sufficient evidence, as opposed to "knowledge."

Having faith means believing in someone or something without any proof that this person/God/thing can do what you expect it/him/her to do. It also means you believe in something without ever seeing, feeling, touching, smelling, or hearing it.
Faith can be believing in God but you can also have faith in a person- for example- my brother is an alcoholic who has said he has quit drinking, finally. To believe that he will truly never drink again is faith, since he has been drinking for 30 years and has tried to quit before.

Faith is irrational. That's why the phrase "leap of faith" rings true. Faith is illogical but comforting - perhaps. But so is crack - for awhile.

To me, it means recognizing that there are things we cannot prove, and being willing to accept that, in the absense of proof, truth nevertheless does not cease to exist.

Hmm... it means trust in a higher being with OR without proof. Peace!

Doesn't have anything to do with a higher being, necessarily. You can have faith the landing gear modification you did in the hangar last night is going to get you down safely, for example.;)
And faith with proof isn't faith any more. It's knowledge.

I am not sure where you get this notion that weakipedia is an authoritative source. Perhaps you are just being lazy, which I can understand. But I would not limit myself, in this arena, to the creed of weakipedia.

EDIT* You are using a very broad and ambiguous term, with "reasonable evidence", and the weakipedia links did not help define your intent with those words, much. (trying to clarify)

"Faith is irrational."

What makes it irrational? If my heart desires the touch of "God" that should be included in the calculating processes of the mind. It would be irrational to exclude the whispers of the heart. You can say it is lacking in "objective security" but, when harmless, it can be very rational.

Well said Katz. The System will not let me frubal you.

There are many categories of ideas we value for which we do not require mathmatical, logical proof or measure with scientific instruments and method.
