What has the government done for us?

What has David Cameron improved in UK this year?

In particular David himself? And the conservative party in general?

Leon, I am not able to answer because I can't think of anything. I get relief and laughter from British politics by reading 'Private Eye'.
It may help.

Been falsely imprisoned? Had to walk on foot because the roads and bridges collapsed? Been crushed under the heel of a violent invader? No? Well, there's that. Half the planet would step over their own mother to trade places with you.

I was asking about British because I live here but any country will do.
OK then.....
My government does nothing for me but interfere & take my money.
I spend much time & about $50K/year defending myself against frivolous lawsuits & regulatory assaults.
Real estate development hurdles take so long that markets change before we're done, so that what
should take only 3 years will take 9 or 10.
I no longer travel thru Canuckistan (a short cut from MI to NY) because of government border harassment.
I pay taxes for roads, but in front of my commercial properties, I pay special assessments for road maintenance.
Cops are dangerous because too many are looking to create revenue (by tickets) or have an ax to grind.

Government is the enemy.

Good description of what a good government should be doing Wirey. Protecting the people and keeping up the infrastructure. Beyond that and they're just meddling.

It is good for those of us in the 1st world to keep this perspective.

I've been falsely prosecuted.
But I beat'm.
I still spend about $50K a year defending myself against frivolous lawsuits, fruitless IRS audits, illegal property tax increases, & regulatory battles.

No....but that's cuz I carry a folding bicycle at all times in my truck.

Dang near had to flee the country because I was about to be drafted into the army of a violent invader.
Fortunately, Nixon cancelled the draft in the nick of time.

Sure, sure...some people have it worse.
But I'll still bristle at a wasteful rapacious government which is mostly useless when it isn't being dangerous.

Well...in Australia....I would have said they provide health services at a reduced cost, provide satisfactory education, that kind of stuff. Buuuut the liberals are cutting everything...so that statement might not be true for long.
