Interesting question!

I think that if it prohibited it, that I would feel quite uncomfortable and probably end up ignoring it or leaving. I've never been one to enjoy being told what I should or shouldn't be, though. I know that part of my wondering about the Mormon church was brought on by the fact that they find homosexuality is bad.

Yes , because the religion does not define me.God speaks directly to your heart and soul, and no book or person can tell you better than that. You might not stop to listen or hear or see or feel ,but God is always talking to you and guiding you.

you know what i'd do? I would, one, give a big middle finger to whoever said that, and two, then make a new sect that doesn't care about sexuality.

Well said. I do believe that the Word of God is sufficient as well to guide you but I'm right there with you. My religion does NOT define me. I'm a Pentecostal but my faith is anchored by my trust in Jesus Christ...not by my denomination...

Besides...I really like men...:D

If hetrosexuality was banned by my religion, I would wonder how it had gained any new members, given that all the old ones would have died without leaving progeny. I guess it could be a religion intent on its own destruction relying on conversion to bolster its ranks, or failing that one which used IVF for the next generation, so I guess there are theoretical options for such a religion. If one is to argue that religion is man made, and thus a function of society, it would certainly be a disfunctional religion, unless of course it was fundamentalist green religion believing man to be the worst danger posed to mother earth, taking upon itself the destruction of H. sapiens.

Even though I am not heterosexual, I could not follow a religion that discriminated against others based on their sexual orientation.

There is light in what Maize says! I do not believe in discrimination , but I also feel that if you choose to follow a religion the inherent nature of religion is to be flawed.Religion evolves as people and societies evovle .Religion is inherently flawed because God is the great mystery , and how do you define the undefinable? you can try and God grants us insights and enlightenment. But to know all God is and can do , only God will ever know.If the foundation of your religion meets with your core spiritual beliefs then you stay and you try to influence and enlighten the flock to living a better way .Show them the light.Granted a daunting task at best , but the religin does not define you , your relationship with God defines you.

If I thought that the religion was true, I would follow what the religion dictated.

I second that. :)

I smell something....
I voted no but to expand on that answer I would have to say that I could not follow any religion that dictated what my sexual preference should be. Whether it be heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or any other sexual preference.

What if hetrosexuality was prohibited by your religion?
Then I could comfortably fall back on BEing asexual.

Exactly my thoughts.;)

I would still follow it. The rules were meant to be broken just as much as they were meant to be followed :).
