What if Jesus was the antichrist?

Breathe

Hostis humani generis
For your information Itwillend I do know a thing or two about the antichrist. If say satan is technically "the christ" then Jesus would be considered the antichrist. Get it?

Interesting point, but that is most definitely a big "if". ;)
Satan does not fit the traditional requirements of the messiah. Sure, you can make him fit the concept of messiah.. if you throw a few prophecies and beliefs about what the messiah is supposed to actually be out the window.

And, why does Satan have to be the opponent of Jesus anyway? :D

:punk:

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

But I don't think that the ha-shatan - the persecutor of mankind according to Scripture - would tell us to love our neighbor and bless the poor.

Really? Isn't that how the antichrist is "going" to deceive so many ignorant people?

:) Oh it is definitely a BIG IF, but not necessarily impossible.

Zorro, in order to twist the anti-christ thing around properly you have to first understand the concept from the bible.
.

Not entirely correct itwillend. You need to understand the concept from the Torah. Understand the twisted christian version of the messiah is only necessary so one can point out the ways in which jesus failed as a christ.

Do you have anything of substance. For example, I think jesus was the christ because... or jesus could not have been the anti-christ due to...
Go on, provide some evidence rather than just petty insults. This is a debate site after all, not an insult site.

Oh I "get it", I am just not sure I want it :D

So now you are on to something. Satan traditionally according to the bible is the anti-christ. Not to be confused with the illusion that some man or government figure will ever be the anit-christ.

It is quite charming to consider this idea, as I have done so many times, wondering if what I am doing is following a lie or the truth.

Fortunately, Jesus represented all the things I love about life, so if he is the anti-christ (ha ha) than I am ok with that.

You do realize that was just an example and not what I believe right?

No, I don't think so.

I think that the idea of a deceptive anti-Christ comes not from personal interactions for today but from first century denials of the faith, following Roman gods to save their own lives and giving up their friends to death.

And where did you hear this theory?

I believe that this is the scholarly consensus for interpreting the anti-Christ among Christian as well as non-Christian scholars.

The consensus is so overwhelming that you could go to a university library and pick a commentary on Revelation at random and it will almost certainly hold this view. If not, the commentary will at least mention it, and if it doesn't, then it's garbage.

Yes Zorro. And if I was wrong with making an assumption (*** out of myself) that you think anti-christ was something other than satan, than I apologize

This is just a discussion itwillend. And I would have to acutally believe in a christ to believe in any antichrist.

I wasn't implying you believed in anything, but that you understood the story says Satan is the antichrist and not some figure in the future.

Happy posting!

I agree that it is funny that no christians are going to be able to give me a straight answer on any of this.
I think you hit that right on the mark...getting a strait answer from a Christain when speaking on topics of Christianity can be a very difficult task.
