I've tried. It was a piece of cake.

Depends on my mood and the weather. I like both but give the edge to ice cream. It just tastes and feels so good when it touches the palate.
Not all cake is equal to ice cream. Some cake is. Not all ice cream is as good as every cake. I once had a particularly good cake that no other dessert could match.
When in doubt: ice cream. Sometimes ice cream just cannot compete with the right cake: the good cake.
