What is faith?

Faith to me is believing in something where the evidence is just not enough to call it fact. In a personal way ofcourse..

What is faith to you? What does it represent to you? Is all faith equal?
I wish I had a million dollars for every time this question has been asked on this forum. No reflection on you Becky. In my experience you find a way to ask these sorts of questions with a twist.

So what is faith? For me it is a psychological imperative built from experience allowing us to predict certain events.

Faith is necessary. Few realise it in this life as a necessity of daily living.

Religious faith invariably has afterlife context built into it. I don't think any consideration of an afterlife is necessary in order to have faith.

No.....all "faith" is not equal; at least, for me it isn't.

Religious Faith is something quite apart from any other type of faiths; it is "Just knowing, without a shred of evidence"....but I have faith that my wife won't leave me -but that is now; if our circumstances changed completely, I could lose my faith in that fact.

Not that I - or she - will.........:D

Faith to me is belief in an object that is not. For instance, if one has faith that one's friend will "come through," the faith exists while the "coming through" does not, yet. When he/she does "come through," the faith is finalized, or justified.

No twist today, just observing, I am not even sure if I'll participate beyond this. I'm curious because faith means one thing to me, but to someone else it's completely different and I am wondering how they cam to the at conclusion. :)

I agree with Ozzie, faith is a necessity of daily living.I never had a problem with my religious faith but have lost faith in some human beings. There have been times in my life where I felt very bad but my faith kept me going on. life without faith seems not worth living to me.
