What is god made of?

This is aimed mostly at monotheists, particularly Abrahamics, but any theist can answer.

A simple question: what is god made of? Light, energy, what? Is god made of anything at all? If that's the case, how does that work?

Whatever it is, it's something immaterial. I don't think He is made of light in the classical physics sense. He may shine brightly in certain visions and accounts in the Bible, but giving off light isn't the same as being made of light. Light might just be the closest thing, physically or metaphorically, to His otherwise indescribable essence. The best we can hope to do is guess.

To me god is material since god is the something rather than nothing in terms of there even being an existence. Immaterial somehow does not compute for me other than an essence off of some thing.

As a neutral monist, God is the mind of the universe. It is impossible to define physically, just like the mental is impossible to define physically.

That's how I view God.

Why can't we say that LOVE is mind of universe ? :)

G-d can't be made up of something. The creation is not like the Creator. It shouldn't be describable or explainable because G-d infinitely transcends His creation. If we could explain we would be putting G-d within the realm of logical or natural rules that He created.

This is an excellent question. :)

This is my answer to that...

There resides in nature an underlying, fundamental force by which all things exist and by which all of existence is animated. I call this The Animating Factor. ALL existing forces (known or unknown to science) are in some way interconnected, and even those forces or interactions which give rise to consciousness or life are in some way dependent on and ultimately derived from the interactions found within ALL matter. As matter interacts it shows us its propensity to change and take on new forms, including that peculiar form we call Life, but behind all those changes or forms are those same animating forces within nature that are in fact both formless and ceaseless. If our own consciousness or awareness is part of those animating forces which are formless, perhaps some part of it too is ceaseless.

That is what I would consider God. Not a physical deity, but rather the fundamental forces in nature.

In the beganing YOU created a game for yourself to play, but before stepping into that game there was a question in YOUR mind.

Q: How can such a game give true enjoyment until you may forget you are the creator of this game ? Thus.. you turned this game into an illusionary game, Which means that you will forget everything, your power, your rank, your place, your status, after jumping into that game.

But again an another new question got arrised, Q: As You will forget everthing about yourself after jumping into that game, than who will pull you out when you will get tired after playing a lot ? Thus, by giving all of yours powers you created a CLONE of yourself and gave him the duty to pull you out.

Now, asked that clone; Sir, how will i come to know that you are really tired of this game ? YOU said; when i'll cry and beg infront of you to take me out of this game like as you have created me, rather than i created you.

And finally by saying this YOU jumped into that game.

GOD is that CLONE

Any question ?
:)

Dear dnyanaprajna,

Light and energy belong to God, He is not made of them, they are made of Hiṃ . Light - when used metaphorically as in illumination, brightness, absence of darkness (ignorance) -- is the state one is in when they are God-conscious or Self-conscious, i.e. in knowledge of the Divine (not worldly knowledge)

God, as Hindu Dharma , Veda Vedānta tell us, is sat-chit-ānanda
1) Existence 2) Knowledge 3) Bliss

This gives rise to His infinite Love coming from infinite flowing bliss.

To get really technical, God is Bhagvān, i.e. has 6 oppulences in full amounts - 1) Wealth 2) Fame 3) Strength 4) Knowledge 5) Renunciation (of all these) 6) Beauty

Despite being the owner of these first 4 aspects, He is fully renounced i.e. has no attachment to them . He is Simply Beautiful. Also, God is never "full of Himself" i.e. He lacks ego. He simply gives, gives, gives ...

its interesting to read the account about what happened to moses when he came into close range of Gods glory

Exodus 33:17*And Jehovah went on to say to Moses: “This thing, too, of which you have spoken, I shall do, because you have found favor in my eyes and I know you by name.” 18*At this he said: “Cause me to see, please, your glory.” 19*But he said: “I myself shall cause all my goodness to pass before your face, and I will declare the name of Jehovah before you; and I will favor the one whom I may favor, and I will show mercy to the one to whom I may show mercy.” 20*And he added: “You are not able to see my face, because no man may see me and yet live.”

21*And Jehovah said further: “Here is a place with me, and you must station yourself upon the rock. 22*And it has to occur that while my glory is passing by I must place you in a hole in the rock, and I must put my palm over you as a screen until I have passed by. 23*After that I must take my palm away, and you will indeed see my back. But my face may not be seen.”

34:5*And Jehovah proceeded to come down in the cloud and station himself with him there and declare the name of Jehovah. ...
29*Now it came about when Moses came down from Mount Si′nai that the two tablets of the Testimony were in the hand of Moses when he came down from the mountain, and Moses did not know that the skin of his face emitted rays because of his having spoken with him. 30*When Aaron and all the sons of Israel got to see Moses, why, look! the skin of his face emitted rays and they grew afraid of coming near to him.

31*And Moses proceeded to call them. So Aaron and all the chieftains among the assembly came back to him, and Moses began to speak to them. 32*First after that all the sons of Israel came near to him, and he began commanding them all that Jehovah had spoken with him on Mount Si′nai. 33*When Moses would finish speaking with them, he would put a veil over his face.

We are told that God is a spirit whcih means he has no physical form...but this account shows us that some kind of energy is apart of Gods form. We can look at the sun and it can burn the retina in our eyes and damage them, we can stand in the sun and eventually we might get sunburned but in neither case do we emit rays, yet here we see that Moses actually emitted rays from his own face after seeing a glimps of Gods glory. Notice in the account that he was placed down into a rock, then he was covered by the plam of Gods hand and only could look up after God had passed by....and he still emitted rays of light coming from his face.

Pretty amazing.
