What is immoral about casual and friendly sex between adults?

On the other hand, asking the same question often gets the same answer.

None of these questions that you're leveling at me have anything to do with the reasons that I gave you for my objections. So either you're not reading what I have to say, or you don't care. Or maybe you're following a script.

Hey! You were right about that one! That's what I see. It's very clear!! :D

You can run and avoid the issues, however moving forward you will bump into it again. It's just a matter of time.

I have no moral concerns about the practice of responsible polyamory. Need to consider the topic of child-rearing and what psychological needs the children will have.

I agree. If one chooses to rear children, they should be one's priority.

I believe mine is based on the Word of God which is not bronze age mythology.

What is the problem with casual consentual sex between two mature adults?

1. Even with contraception, pregnancy can occur. Abortion is a moral quandary. IOW you end up creating new life, and shouldering the responsibilities that come with it. Children deserve to be raised in the best of circumstances -- a committed marriage of a man and woman (so that they get the benefit of both genders if possible). Sure, it can start out that way and go wrong. But you don't selfishly bring children into the world knowing that they won't have this benefit from day one. IOW, sex is not all about YOU and your partner.

2. Sex is incredibly powerful. It bonds hearts together, and has the power to crush and tear people apart. Lives can be unduly harmed by frivolous sex. This is especially true of women, though certainly it can also be true of men as well. It is better to simply acknowledge that sex releases oxytocin, the bonding hormone, and that the more one has sex wit a person, the more bonded one becomes and the better the sex gets. It is far better to PROTECT the heart, to PROTECT sexuality within the commitment of marraige. It's just common sense, and explains why every culture has had the institution of marraige, even after childbearing years have passed.

So just to be clear, you think that casual sex is wrong because:
  • you think that abortion is immoral (I dont agree)
  • you think that having sex compels people to fall in love (that is obviously not true)
  • you think that lives can be unduly harmed by frivolous sex.
(Driving a car, carrying a child to term, and marital sex can unduly harm a life. Those must be immoral, too. RIght?)
  • you think that women cannot have sex without being overcome by their emotions. (very 1950s of you. so you think women are prone to hysteria too)
  • you think that cultures invented marriage to protect emotions
(it was established as marriage contracts between families of means for the protection of economic, political, property and inheritance needs.)

I would also like to add that abandonning a child to adoption services is an option if abortion is completely unacceptable to a certain person.

People can also be unduly harmed by absence of "frivolous sex". Sexual frustration, loneliness, a sense of inadequacy, etc. That's an odd thing to mentionned indeed since everything and anything can be harmful.

Abandon? Um. That word means to leave with disregard or indifference. I hope that is not what you intended.
But I do agree that adoption is a reasonable choice for a woman who decides to gestate.

That was my thinking, too.

Leave would have probably been a better choice of word though I don't like to presume that leaving one's child in adoption "needs" to be a diffcult and heartbreaking decision that will bring grief and sorrow. It can be done without any negative or positive emotion when it's known to be a good decision and with confidence that the child will be treated with dignity and humanity.

How trusting of you, to take their word for it, that they're clean. Or is that naïvete? Or simply uncontrolled desire overcoming caution.

Maybe they are being honest....they just didn't know they contracted a virus from another partner they had last night.

Anyone can lie or make a mistake. So I guess it boils down to eventually trusting someone or living in a bubble your whole life out of fear.

Your views of human sexuality do not appear to be informed by science -- that is, by facts, truths. Opinions that are based on fantasies rather than facts are hardly compelling.

FYI monogamy is only one of a handful of 'reproductive strategies' that come naturally to humans. A specific subset of monogamy -- serial monogamy -- might be the single most popular reproductive strategy, but it is by no means the only one; and one does not have to be a sick person from a sick society to adopt a strategy or two that are other than serial monogamy.

You want "sick"? Go to one of those societies that are relatively uptight about women's sexuality -- such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or India -- and dig down below the official statistics until you find the truth about the rape and sexual assault of women and girls in those societies. You'll find "sick" by the trainload.

In the KSA, they cover it up much better than they do in India, but three of my female cousins lived in the KSA for years, and even though they were foreigners, you can't keep women from talking to women. The KSA is a hell on earth for rape and sexual assault. So is India. And both societies are relatively uptight and prudish about women's sexualities.

A couple years back one of my sisters went with her boyfriend to India for vacation (He was going for work). When she told me I remember being nervous about it, I've heard some nasty stories about how women are treated over there. My sister seemed oblivious to it. They spent their time in a resort for foreigners so, I don't think they saw any authentic India stuff while they were there.

I heard one horrific story of two women being gang raped on a public bus and when reported to the police their punishment was to mow the lawn at the local police station. Not a great place for women.

That's chilling. I am glad nothing untoward happened to your sister!

About a half-dozen of the beta-readers for my books are Indian women. Three of them have told me of being sexually assaulted. One told me that when she was fondled by her music teacher at age 12, she reported it to her aunt. Her aunt laughed and said she'd been pinched, fondled, and worse so many times -- and so little had been done about it by the authorities -- that she had long ago given up all hope of escaping it, and she then advised my reader to learn to expect such things to happen to her, and to learn to laugh them off.

There is a police officer in one of India's Southern States who also has given up all hope of anything being done about rape through the proper channels. Nowadays, he's made a habit of murdering rapists when they are caught. Last year, four men beat up a woman's boyfriend on a bus, dragged her off the bus, raped and tortured her, then gutted her like a pig and set fire to her. This time, the community was so outraged, the men were identified and arrested. The officer in question, requested permission to take all four men to the scene of the crime where he could "better interrogate them". He just happened to be the only witness present when all four men decided to make a break for it. Sadly he was forced to gun all of them down. By coincidence, this sort of thing has happened with that officer before, but he never seems to learn how risky it is to take prisoners to the scene of their crimes for "interrogation".

I do not condone extralegal murder, but that's exactly the sort of thing some people will resort to when the system is corrupt from top to bottom.
