What is the purpose of life? Why were we put on earth?

a) The purpose of life is to live it. Become deeply immersed in your interests and develop your talents. Life is a brief escape from that vast pool of all knowing Consciousness (“Heaven”). We are spiritual creatures having a physical experience. Enjoy it.

b) Emotions give flavor to life. Enjoy your emotions, allow yourself to feel them, but do not let them control you. You were given a mind for a reason; use it. When you join God you will not experience these emotions, so enjoy them while you can. Strong emotions are among the greatest diversions of all. How much more immersed in your life can you become than when you are at the peak of an emotion?

c) The purpose of life is to learn as much as you can about everything. Do not be afraid to seek knowledge; when you join God you will know all, but this is not as satisfying as it is to discover Truths for yourself; learn all you can so that your life is lived fully.

Runt it does not make sense to learn all you can, work hard for this goal or that goal, bring children into this world, have people you truly care about all around, go through a whole heap of s**t that life serves up to us and then loose everything you ever cared about in one instant of your life. That doesn't sound like a very good idea to me.

These are the arguments of your own reason and this will lead you to your grave having achieved absolutely nothing. Your a pleasure seeker you derive fleeting pleasure from all of these things and don't want to give them up. Thats fair enough chase them, keep experiencing them if thats what you want to do. But that is not the meaning of life it is the futile pursuit of transient pleasure that is what you are trying to say is the meaning of life.

You are put on this earth to wan't to come out of your desire to recieve in order to have contact with GOD WHILST STILL LIVING ON THIS EARTH. NOT WHEN YOU ARE DEAD LIKE OTHER PEOPLE WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE - IF YOU DON'T CORRECT YOURSELF IN THIS LIFE TIME THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO IT AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE:

We can only find what the true meaning of lives are through the study of Kabbalah - there is no other way. As it says in the Torah - "Come see taste that The Creator is good" Kabbalah gives you this chance.

I tend to agree with Runt on this one. When people ask me this question, I tell them the simple answer is the purpose of life is to experience being alive. Experience the good and the bad and everything in between and learn from it all.

I like Runt's views, but as a purpose, not the purpose. The great thing about being human is the ability to define our own purpose, or just to wing it. And even better - this applies whether there was in fact some original purpose or not. Being free means we can rebel against the 'job' we were meant to do, be that loving or being one with the creator, serving the castes above you, or marrying and having kids.

In a sense, free beings cannot have a 'purpose' - anything they do will be of their own volition, and with that comes responsibility for those actions. If your lawnmower suddenly becomes self-aware and able to drive around by itself, it my well choose to continue to do the job for which it was intended, but that will be a choice, because it wants to, not because mowing grass was its 'purpose'. Then imagine a tank becoming self-aware - it could go back to killing people, but now that it is aware, should it?

what you should always bear in mind is this: you may think that you have free will to do this that and the other, but the fact is that you are being manipulated all the time from God. Afterall who do you think sends you all your thoughts ? Secondly if God created the world is it so unreasonable to assume that he controls it ? I leave it up to you.

P.S. I don't want to be drawn into arguments guys I really don't. Arguments are just about two or more people claiming to be right. I'm not doing this to inflate my ego. What I have to do is simply spread genuine Kabbalah to those who want it or indeed need it. I will keep posting but I will do my level best to keep out of arguments. If you don't feel the need to study Kabbalah fine - I am not here to ram it down anyones throat. But it is essential that I broadcast this wisdom.

That is fine what you are preaching is pleasure seeking and that is not the meaning of life becuase people have been practising that for years and still they are no closer to finding the meaning of life than you are.

You are perscribing death. Pretty soon we are going to see where your philosophy leads us.

Try to understand that there is a difference between belief and truth. You BELIEVE you are right and Maize and I are wrong; but you have no proof unless you count what you believe the Kabbalah and Torah teach you--which may or may not be Truth. Do not presume to tell us we are wrong in our perceptions; you are as human as we are and thus as inclined to human error. For all you know, BOTH arguements could be wrong.

Truthseeker: The only person I've seen "preaching" on this forum is you. Please, I'm all for debating, sharing and discussing my views with yours, but when you immediatly take the attitude that you're here to "save" us all from our certain eternal death, you do nothing but turn me off to everything you are saying.

If you truly want to share your beliefs and religion, share with us and let people who read your ways come to their own conclusion. You cannot force anyone to belief as you do by brow beating them and discounting their belief system. I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "You catch more flies with honey than with vingear" Please think about this. I was very happy to see someone who follows Kabbalah on this site because I honestly don't know anything about it and would love to know more from someone who practices it. But I tell you, the way you have presented it so far is not making me want to learn more.

Well we are all nothing more than animals with the ability to communicate with words, images, and writings, and have imaginations to bring these all together into one. With this knowledge we argue the existence of God and purpose itself. What if there is no purpose but to live? What about other animals? Dogs for instance, communicate with each other, and research studies have shown different pitches and tones to these communications (barks), therefore meaning that we are not unique in communication and thoughts. So "purpose" is up to the person seeking purpose. Life is only what you make of it and no Bible or Kabbalah can give you purpose, only they can give you a road or path to a PRESCRIBED purpose. Like Jesus called his believers sheep... And sheep are blind to all around them, even jumping off a cliff if the leading shepherd or sheep does so first. I prefer not to be a sheep but a shepherd without a flock. I follow my own path and have my own personal purpose...TO LIVE I dont need a Heaven or Hell to give me purpose.

I tend to agree with the existentialists. Life is absurd and it is our own responsibility, using our capacities of cognisence, to create meaning for ourselves. Of course religious people seem to think that it would be sad if this were true, but the existentialist welcomes the idea, because it means we have ultimate control over ourselves.

I think that the fact that probably not one of us could name a relative that lived a hundred years ago is proof that we don't actually value any "greater" meaning of life, despite the fact that many people seem to think they do.
