True Love, A myth created by story tellers.

Love is something worked at a feeling that grows over time with a person or thing a feeling built from understanding, compassion and trust.

Love has many different variations. I mean, love is love, to be sure. There is romantic type, there is the love you have for your children, family, close friends, there is brotherly love.

Definition of love (v)

Bing Dictionary
love
[ luv ]
feel tender affection for somebody: to feel tender affection for somebody such as a close relative or friend, or for something such as a place, an ideal, or an animal
feel desire for somebody: to feel romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody
like something very much: to like something, or like doing, something very much
Synonyms: affection, adoration, friendship, tenderness, feeling, fondness, devotion, passion, ardor, amity

and how would you define it?
It is very difficult to define love in the truest sense and I could provide either the Eros or Agape version depending on my mood.

If I were to answer 'from the heart', that answer would be "If you need to even ask that, then it is not".

That seems to be the case for a lot of things...

In the truest sense of the term, Love is beyond definition. It is also beyond any conditions, expectations or restraints placed upon it.

That being said, there are various 'levels of love' which are no 'truer' in what it means to love and often, the line gets blurred.

The love I feel for my child and my God are both unconditional, but they are different. In many ways the same...but in many ways different. I have friends I love unconditionally but I do not 'love them enough' (for lack of a better term) to marry them....it goes on.

'True Love' is what you feel in your heart to be true and what your heart tells you beyond doubt to be true.

The truest Love I have ever felt has been in prayer to my Lord, more than anything I could ever, ever feel for a human man. Some see this as a fault, but I just cannot even begin to compare it nor describe it, but it's 'true love' nonetheless.

I think 'a strong feeling of affection' (Oxford Dictionary) is a good description.

However, I'd say that love is definitely something that has to be experienced.

What? Me worry?
No, but you must like someone in order to love them, unless you're using a non-standard definition for love.

Have to disagree with you slightly. I will always love my wife no matter what she says or does. However I may not like her if she does or says something hurtful. "True" love in my case is losing your fear of loving someone unconditionally.

True love isnt something you can explain. It is something you know when you see it.

The closest I can come is to differentiate between subjective and objeubctive love. Subjective love is based on a persons characteristics which may or may not be correctly perceived by the lover. Such subjective characteristics may also change over time, thereby potentially altering the substrate on which the love was originally based. This may or may not prove to be surmountable.

Objective love is an article of faith. There is no earthly way of proving whether or not it exists. I define it as two parts which naturally belong together, finding each other in the flesh.

Objective love can take many forms and a happily ever after may result from the reunion, though that is by no means ascertained. The reunion may occur for an entirely different purpose, pertaining to the development of each soul.

I tend to agree with that. It seems to me that people mean many very different things by that one word, "love". Who is presumptuous enough to say that one kind of love is "truer" than another? That's more a debate for middle schoolers than for adults, I think.

True love is based on truth, honesty, decency and above all having a personal relationship and receiving insights and revelations from the Holy Spirit is His love for us. Our love for Him is based on hungering and thirsting for truth about ourselves, to understand our sins is to free us from this sick world.

Love is being who you truly are, and seeing others for who they truly are, its seeing beyond the mind body organism. Many believe love is clinging to someone, having sex with someone, this is only the shadow of true love, true love is seeing another without the cloud of sex or clinging.

True love, for me, is an unselfish love. That is all. Nothing magical or mysterious. Not in the sense of my one true love either.

and how would you define it?

I like what the Bible says on love:

People are flawed, so I think this is the perfect type of love to aspire to in our relationships, be it a relationship with the love of your life or with your children and other family members, friends, etc.

If i were to aspire to love like in the bible i'd be an incestuous child killing rapist genocidal maniac.

I think it's better to just refrain from it all and agree that love means caring more than usual.
