What is wrong with those people who to pray to statues?

Yes, I give thanks to Corn Spirit. Corn is one of the two major crops cultivated in my state, and the state economy would collapse without it. That's probably underselling it, because I wager the American economy would collapse without it considering how much corn and corn-derived products are part of international industries. But in my state in particular, corn is a cultural icon, a center of festivals and celebrations here. Sweet corn festivals, and all that. We look forward to them. There are always big trucks stationed on street corners selling freshly picked sweet corn, and it is amazing! Some crafty folks make things from the corn husks... that's lots of fun too.

And now you're going to call the cops on me to lock me up in some insane asylum, right?

This is what Iv been looking for. You have just proved it. It's all about wealth is it not?

I knew you was sarcastic from the beginning. Disorder is not as bad as one might think.

Proved what? That I understand how important corn is to the economy of my state and the human world? Or that I recognize the cultural importance of corn as a crop for my state, and value that cultural legacy? Oh noes, the horror! :fearscream:

It's all about wealth is it not?

Er... no. Where did this come from? Is there something that you're not understanding that I need to explain in a different way?

I knew you was sarcastic from the beginning.

If I use sarcasm, it is only because I'm having difficultly taking you seriously when you demonstrate such misunderstanding of cultural practices and traditions. I'd like to think it's pretty obvious where I'm being sarcastic and where I am not. If it isn't, just ask. And to make it easy, the only sarcasm in this post is "Oh noes, the horror!"

Disorder is not as bad as one might think.

Depends on what is meant by "disorder." Considering you've been bringing up clinically diagnosable of disorders - the sorts that professional psychiatrists evaluate - yes, disorders are quite bad. It's like being diagnosed with a broken leg, hearing impairment, or the shingles. Thus it behooves us to be careful with accusing other cultures of having a "disorder" for practicing their traditions, as the implication is that this "disorder" is something that needs to be "fixed" or "cured." Sorry, but people who honor various things with words or images don't need to be "cured" or "fixed" of this habit.

I'm going to guess you mean pagans. You sound like you're just trolling but I'll say it anyways. We don't pray to statues. Statues give us a physical representation of who we are praying to, making us feel more connected to who we are praying too.

What is wrong with those people who give statue a soda? Maybe they are trying to get rich. Don't you think so? Are they looking for a shortcut? Easy way out? Steroids? Lottery ticket?

Some people worship corn, some people worship oil and some people worship bananas. Maybe because it makes them rich. Some people think that a budha can make them rich.

Nice Buddha.

Reminds me of obsession.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviors you feel compelled to perform. If you have OCD, you probably recognize that your obsessions and compulsions are irrational—but even so, you feel unable to resist them and break free.

Yes, I would say I have appreciation for my Gods. OCD, though is different than that. A good example of OCD is a person who might come onto a discussion forum, and repeat the very same statement about 100 times. Most people might repeat something just once or twice. Obsession about cleanliness or personal hygiene is probably the most commonly diagnosed OCD going. It might be good for the soap or the disinfectant salesman, but for the poor person who has it, it can indeed be crippling. They just have this very strong urge to clean everything they see ... doorknobs, floors, anything. When I taught, I only saw a few borderline cases of students with OCD. I did see ADD, ODD. and ADHD though. Not fun for either the teacher/parent, nor the child.

Hindus and Pagans and any other people who practice their religion in this way are healthy individuals, and it has nothing at all to do with OCD.

Why does this bother you so much? Does it take food out of your mouth? Does it take your parking space? Does it cause you pay cuts? Have you nothing more important to worry about? So again, why does this bother you so much?

I know some one who has many statues in his/her business. Maybe they worship wealth after all.

Plus I like going to Thailand, and I might be going there pretty soon, since tickets are cheap (comparing flying to Europe) you can find one under 500$ from LAX and 600$ from Chicago.

You didn't answer my questions. In fact, your answers have absolutely nothing to do with the price of cattle feed. So I ask again, why does what other people do bother you so much?

Listen Jainarayan, this topic was dying in the middle of second page, then some one brought it up started to talk about zombies coming back to life 3000 years later to kill 1 million people, and then I was labeled as a troll. Don't you think that talking about zombies is trolling?

I already got my answers. And the last answer the guy blew it, not only did he expose the real answer but he exposed him self. You can close this topic if you want.
