I also like English muffins, too.
I think the English just call these "muffins."

Pretty sure the English call the muffins referred to in the OP "American muffins" or "bald cupcakes..."

I made that last part up.

An English muffin is a sort of bread bun that is best toasted and served with butter and cup of tea. Or perhaps bacon and egg.​

Recipes vary but generally, whole wheat flour (or white flour + wheat germ), carrots, apples, raisins, nuts (usually walnut or pecan), orange zest & orange juice, and coconut.
