Its when the only thing in the post is a link. Usually it's goes to somewhere....not related to the fourm or thread purpose. Think advertisement, porn, and other fourms and sites in direct compentision.

It's spamming a bunch of the same links (or just one) repeatedly.
For instance if I were to post www.mynewcard.com - mynewcard in every thread in the forum, that would be link spamming

It seems to happen a lot on Wikipedia - linkspammers edit several pages to include links to their website, and because the link appears on Wikipedia, which is a popular site, it causes the page to rank higher in search engines. It's a pretty underhanded way to drive traffic to your site.
