What member has the biggest effect on you?

For me, it has to be FeathersInHair. She has to be the most placid soul on this site. I've met people like her in real life, but they are rare.

I have so much in common with Linwood, Pah, Mr. Spinkles, etc. that I can identify with the vast majority of what they post. I am diametrically opposed to several of the other members. I often feel glee when one of my friends posts a position that I agree with (as if validating my point of view). My reaction to posts by those that I generally disagree with range from wanting to help them to being mildly perturbed to sincere anger (see journal entry #2).

But when I read posts by Feathers, whether I agree or disagree with her position, I find an inner peace that almost flows from her to me. Thank God (or whoever you choose to worship) for people that can do that to a hothead like me.

So --- who is it on the site that has the biggest effect on you?

Thanks,
TVOR

TVOR,

I could not agree more..... but this thread is evidence as to why you run a close second in my book!!! :D

The fruit of this forum might not be an education in religion or faith, but an education in human kindness and goodness, so well brought to light by people like you and feathersinhair.

Love and peace,
Scott

Every member here is valuable and has an effect on us.
As Lightkeeper has pointed out, everyone has value - whether a given member can see it or not (perhaps I myself am more blind to this than others). I did not intend for this thread to identify anyone in a negative way - rather, that we get a chance to say "Thank you" to someone in particular. The truth of the matter is that we could take any member of the site and find good things to say about each (well, all except Pah ;) ).

SOG -
I only wish that I had more people of revealed faith that I respect as much as you. I never feel that we have to agree - but we have an unending obligation to listen with an open mind. I would have to put Spinkles in there with you (even though he is on the Atheist/Agnostic side of the aisle) on this count.

It's so wonderful--even though we're all online and have never met, everyone has their own distinct personality and we really are a family together. FeathersinHair is my girl! It's impossible for someone not to like her!

VOR, linwood, Spinkles, pah, Sunstone and others that I might be forgetting--If I see that you were the last to post somewhere, sometimes I don't even bother going in and reading because I feel confident that you've taken care of business.

SOGPFF, you are this forum's version of the Pope--no one knows as much about Catholicism as you do, and no Catholic is a flexible to other beliefs as you are either! It's quite refreshing!

Lightkeeper, you seem to posess this innate wisdom that just grounds all of us. You keep us all on track and in line with your no-nonsense views.

Oh crap...I was only supposed to talk about one person, wasn't I? ;)

Ceridwen, if Scott is the pope of the forum, you're the genius daughter of the forum. When I see your posts, I not only know they'll be well-reasoned and insightful, but also that they'll often be humerous and upbeat. I wish I had half your gift with words!

Everyone on this Forum has such a unique personality! And yes, it is like a very big family. When someone doesn't post for a while, I find myself wondering what's happened to them and if they're alright. I think it would be impossible for me to say that any one member of the forum has had a greater influence on me than all others. It's like everyone fits in in their own unique and precious way.

I've decided to out her: Beneath her deceptive mask of kindness, concern, good humor, wisdom, and generosity, Feathers is actually a rabble rousing terroist who has no scrupples about riding rough-shod over the guilty and innocent alike! Of course, I could be a little bit wrong about that.

LOL - I'm glad someone else stated what I've felt for a long time. Feathers has been using her "hit and run" tactic, and I just didn't want to be the one to bring it up. What a scofflaw. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that she is cutting the tags off of all the pillows in her house.

*GASP* Is there nothing so wrong or so perverse that she wouldn't stoop to doing it?
