Do you prefer North America (US and Canada. If there are any Mexican metal groups, I am unaware of them.) metal bands, or would you prefer European Metal bands. I can think of many great groups from both places. My favorite group is Korn, but I also love some European groups, mainly Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, and Lacuna Coil, so I am going to have to vote for the European metal.

I'm going for American metal, because i havent heard much else...
You are missing out on alot then. Lacuna Coil is a great metal group if your not into death, destruction, pain, or evil themed metal. They have a great sound, and imo, there female vocalist sounds much better than Evanescene's lead singer.

It is such a close call. I have two favourite bands and both of them are from Europe however so I guess that decides it :). I do love many many many American metal bands however lol :)

Plain ol' Metal : Black Sabbath - England
Original Metal : Led Zepp - England
Black Metal : Satyricon - Norway

Guess it's a 3 thumbs up to Europe for me. To be honest I find most American metal a little on the "I hate my Mum" side of things.

You should of put a "Both" option.

How can I pick between Metallica and Iron Maiden?

How can I pick between Morbid Angel and Emperor?

I chose "not sure," but I think it would better be labled "don't care" since I could give a crap where a band comes from. I like so many different forms of metal that I can't say I prefer certain types. Two bands I really like are Rammstein and Sentenced, which obviously are both from Europe, but most bands I listen to are from North America (Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Godsmack, Disturbed, Coal Chamber *RIP*, DevilDriver, Fear Factory, etc.), but what continent a band is from has no effect on how I prefer their music. As long as it rocks, I don't really care where the hell the band comes from. <- I sort of repeated that point, didn't I? Sorry about that.

I really don't care either, but thier is definitly a difference in sound for the most part.

Let's see what each side has going for it:

America: Metallica, Megadeth, Manowar, Slayer, Testament, Iced Earth, Kamelot, Into Eternity, and Death. Yes I missed some but these are some of the best.

Europe: Blind Guardian, Children of Bodom, Edguy, Hammerfall, Rhapsody, Dark Moor, Helloween, Apocalyptica, Epica and countless others.

Voted accordingly. As a resident headbanger, I hope that others vote the same.

for me it's christian metal. like underoath, Demon Hunter, Dead poetic, Norma Jean,
demon%20hunter2.jpg
stuff .like that

I don't see any way Demon Hunter is supposed to be a Christian group. There is nothing Biblical about thier lyrics, none of thier songs are "Praise God, thank Jesus" types. Creed is more of a Christian group than Demon Hunter.
I never knew anyone considered them Christian until afdragon mentioned it, then I looked on google. Or maybe its a "christian" like ICP.

Old school for me; Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Metallica (pre-Justice for all), AC/DC, Led Zep, Slayer (that's as heavy as I get), Def Leppard (Pyromania and earlier), Touriquet (Christian), Rush (prog-metal), Alcatrazz.....

I'm going to say europe, but that was a really hard choice. I just did it because while there are more good metal bands from NA, I like the european ones better.
