so indragni is the name of the union or name of new supreme god according to Rig veda as both indra and agni are given supreme status by number of slokas.@Vedic

सुत (Suta, as per context): Extracted, pressed out, impelled, brought forth. Sure, it also means 'son'.

It was not a union like Ardhanaeeshwara or Harihara, half Indra and half Agni. They were just addressing two Gods together. They did this for other Gods also, Mitra-Varuna, Dyvah-Prithivi were other popular combinations.
Don't bother to find out as to whom the Aryans considered as the Supreme God. They had 33. And if the hymn was dedicated to a particular God then he was the Supreme as far as that hymn went. In another hymn, they would be praising some other God as Supreme.
