What party am I?

This was partly inspired by Mystic's thread, but instead of asking for people to try to convert me to their party, I'm asking, "what party am I"?

My political beliefs are basically green, anarchism, socialism, and I'm very liberal. If I had to rank these three in order of importance, it would probably be
1. green
2. anarchism
3. socialism

Do I fit anywhere? Or maybe it will help just to see out typed out and not just in my head. :p

According to the above criteria I would define you as a lettuce, and more specifically unaffiliated annual plant of the sunflower political umbrella.
But of course that could just be my bias as a Mexican origin edible fruit speaking... after all my kind is easily confused with common vegetables.

It depends on whether or not you (as an American) put any stock into third parties.

If you do, then there are several options, including both the Green Party and the Socialist Party USA. If not, then you're a Democrat. But that can mean just about anything, and there are both Liberal and Progressive factions within the Democratic Party.

If it helps, I'm a fairly newly registered Democrat. I don't align perfectly with the party's platform and am often at odds with their decisions, but I'm closer to them than I am the Republicans and can find common ground with a lot of people.

I keep holding out hope for third parties. I'm thinking the Green party. Alot of socialism tends to favor big government, which I'm against. Just how much, I'm not sure, but I've been wondering lately how viable anarchism might actually be. I wonder how many Greens favor a small government...

From what I can tell, quite a few. I'm addicted to political philosophy quizzes, and really like the ones that include third parties; my philosophy is a mix of libertarianism and social democracy, but Green tends to lead Libertarian by a fair margin when I take the quizzes.

And I can sympathize with the hope for third parties; I'm a proportion representation proponent, and would love to see them become active and viable options in our political process.

In America you would probably fit in the green party. There is no real socialist party and the Green party is just out there liberal enough to support some crazy socialist agenda stuff. Some are even ******* crazy enough to support good education and free healthcare.

And I just find that it is an oxymoron to say the "anarchist party" except in the context of a bunch of people wearing V for Vendetta masks crashing a college co-ed function.

What is your attitude regarding rights of the individual vs rights of collectives?

Interesting question. I want to say about half and half. Something along the lines of being able to respect the rights of collectives, without taking away from the rights of individuals.

So you believe in preserving the rights of the individual, even if a majority (collective) wants to take those rights away? Good.

I see rights as an individual thing. Collectives are more about power.

Individuals have a conscious as a self-regulating mechanism. Collectives often have a bureaucracy as a regulating mechanism. However, the people of a nation might be called a government's "conscience," if democracy is working correctly. Can it truly work correctly if individual rights are not honored?

That's a really good point, and I agree.
