What religion am I describing?

I will not name the religion. If you can recognize it then so be it.

1. It is centered around torture and violence. It's symbol is that of a torture device. This torture device is placed on hill-sides as a reminder.

2. It is based upon fear of eternal torture.

3. It speaks of drinking blood and eating flesh.

You're looking at the very literalist superficial side of Christianity, without looking into the deeper mystic parts.

I agree. It just kind of grosses me out sometimes (somebody needing to be tortured for some reason in order to take away our sins). Justifying torture (even if of a God) is not a good example to set.

Feel free to select a better philosophy for your self. I don't mean that sarcastically, but nows the time to free your mind :)

I do not believe Jesus died for sins or was a sacrifice. That would be the most unjust thing one could believe. He was good and kind and helpful.

I agree that Jesus was kind essentially.

It is important to recognise that Jesus died and it was later understood - after the event - to have served a purpose. When people say "Jesus died for our sins" they are using hindsight as they only understood Jesus after he died. The problem is the covenant can be explained by the events of his life (according to the NT written after his death), which implies there was a divine purpose to his actions/life.

(How long until someone quotes the NT, I wonder).

I wonder how many people were burned at the stake because of Christianity. I am not talking about the Salem witch trials. I am talking about all of history over the last thousand years. It makes me sick sometimes. I have been in church and sometimes almost felt like I wanted to vomit when they say "drink his blood".

Well Stupified this was the teachings of Jesus misused for the purposes of power and revenue. As for drinking his blood, this was a metaphor which has been taken far out of context. Eating his flesh and drinking his blood means to be in union with the mystic Christ of whom's body we all are.

There is difference between drinking water, wine and blood too, in an esoteric sense they are symbolic and some say are used as such in the NT.

I know you guys are right (it is symbolic). But given the overal tone of Christianity as a whole, it grosses me out. But that is just me. I have to admit, I enjoyed Passion of the Christ as much as the religious people in the theatre, but I kind of feel sick about it. At what point do symbols become hate? I think there is a line that is crosses. I understand why they don't allow Swastika's in Germany. Symbols are powerful, and that is not usually a good thing.

Stupified the swastika is originally a beautiful symbol with a beautiful meaning and I am all for portraying it for it's true symbolism. We need to reclaim the swastika, it is a beautiful symbol.
