What religion is the one true religion?

How do a christian know he/she is a christian?
By finding the ones who are doing what Christ instructed his followers to do. These would be identified by the love they have among themselves, (John 13:34-35) and the fact that they would love their enemies and refuse to do harm to them. (Matthew 5:43-44) They would also be hated for remaining separate from the world. (John 15:18-21; John 18:36; James 4:4)

What was the primary work of Jesus himself? What work did he assign his disciples?

John 18:37....
"So Pilate said to him: “Well, then, are you a king?” Jesus answered: “You yourself are saying that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.”

Matthew 28:19-20...
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

Matthew 10:11-14...
“Into whatever city or village you enter, search out who in it is deserving, and stay there until you leave. 12 When you enter the house, greet the household. 13 If the house is deserving, let the peace you wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from you return upon you. 14 Wherever anyone does not receive you or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet."

This was the commission, and all true Christians are doing what Christ commanded.

I disagree. I believe many roads lead to Rome, but not all roads lead to Rome. Only loving and kind roads lead to Rome.

This was only ever true in the West anyway, and reflected a very human, insular perspective. The Silk Road never lead to Rome, though it did link the Eastern Roman Empire to China.

Debate start now!!
Which painting is art?

Religion as a generic term is the relationship between the individual and the creator. Religions evolve from the innate desire to seek God or Gods. There is no one right religion.

If you are searching for God you have already found God.

What is the absolute truth? What is the only truth within a person and only truth in their actions and thoughts?
I can not answer this because I do not know the answer :) but in my understanding it has to do with when humans end/let go of every negative words, action and thoughts, if I understand right, that is the moment one live by absolute truth.

I disagree. I believe many rivers lead to the sea, but not all rivers lead to the sea. Only loving and kind rivers lead to the sea

I believe God emanated many varieties simultaneously, or over time. Just as there is much visible diversity in the universe, so too with belief. Can we say there is one tree that is the true tree?

So you do not believe only one religion is the truth? Do you believe many religions have divine orgin? Or that many religions have some truth?

If you mean objectively, there is only one religion thinking religion means a theology.

Every religion may have divine origin, if not most. But then that's a regression we may never be able to know. Thats all speculation. "Some truth", everything may have. That too is too vast to count or measure.

I didn't do that because that is not what you asked. In case you are interested, Tiberius and I are discussing the criteria a Messenger of God would have to meet on another thread.

We have discussed this before when you were preaching about your religion, you were unable to explain why Jesus, Mohammed, David Koresh and Charles Manson were not all messengers from your god.

"Truth" isn't a thing...

No religion is "true" (in an epistemic sense) -- they are all matters of opinion. To say that you know something to be true, you must be able to demonstrate the truth of it. And if you can demonstrate the truth of it, you no longer need a religion about it -- it just becomes another "fact" of the world with which you work. Like gravity, and the necessity to breathe, and that you can't see in the pitch dark.

None it seems to me, given the spectrum of beliefs, the timescales involved, the locations of their origins, and their reliance on past beliefs, besides all the conflicts such have caused.

I think that the one true religion is about
1. taking good care of one's self
2. respecting the other person to take care of him too.
3. staying out of politics
4. trusting one's self before anyone else but GOD
5. knowing that the Earth with its wildlife needs caring for too
6. having solemn respect for Earth's ocean and the weather.
7. doing away with all superstitions
8. respecting what Science can do
9. being friendly and learning how to communicate it.
10. above all, LOVE!
And you were doing so well until 4.
How many paths up a mountain are there?
Putting my boot in here. The easiest, the hardest, the classic, or the most enjoyable - and perhaps most rewarding, given the necessities so often. Certainly many religions seem to be such.
You would never think that if you looked at the world with hundreds of religions competing against each other and saw how different they are. You would only think that there is only one true religion which was revealed in various chapters throughout the ages, if you read the Baha'i Writings...

“The Purpose of the one true God, exalted be His glory, in revealing Himself unto men is to lay bare those gems that lie hidden within the mine of their true and inmost selves. That the divers communions of the earth, and the manifold systems of religious belief, should never be allowed to foster the feelings of animosity among men, is, in this Day, of the essence of the Faith of God and His Religion. These principles and laws, these firmly-established and mighty systems, have proceeded from one Source, and are the rays of one Light. That they differ one from another is to be attributed to the varying requirements of the ages in which they were promulgated.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 287-288
This might be fine if what they produced didn't then pass into the future to then cause even more conflict. Which is what tends to happen rather than being welcomed and enlightening us all. So why wasn't any original message good enough, even if later explanations were required?

Much like recreational drug use might come from seeking something?

Chocolate.
Wow, that was exactly what I was thinking when I saw the OP (then again, I think this in reaction to a great many OPs here, and then usually leave the thread without posting anything).
