What religion would you convert to if you were forced to convert to a religion?

After taking a day to consider the question, I would likely adopt Mahayana Buddhism, given my current religious philosophical views are as close to Buddhist views anyway.

Belief-O-Matic tells me I'm a Mahayana Buddhist anyway. :tearsofjoy:
Well done, I'm a Humanist! (Except I'm not  )

It's got an extremely Abrahamic bias. Some rubbish options.

My results were 1. liberal Quaker and 2. Mahayana Buddhist. My wife's #1 was Sikhism.

There aren't that many religions these days that engage in forced conversion. Most of them don't care. So I would "force" to be one of those and then go back to what I was doing since they wouldn't care... lol.

Beliefnet also has Buddha doing the Abhaya Mudra with the left hand and misspells Mahayana in its picture.. ;)

Whichever one I was forced to join. It wouldn't really matter to me they all have problems. The very fact that I would be forced to join indicates they aren't any good.

I'm not quite following.

Is it possible to convert under duress? And if so, what meaning does that conversion have?

If I had any choice on the matter, why would I not choose according to my preferences instead of being forced to something else?

Instead, we could talk about being raised among expectations of a certain creed if you want to. It happens plenty enough! But I don't think that counts as conversion.

There is also a potentially fascinating third option for us to consider: the tension between our individual deep-rooted beliefs and goals and the available choices of religions and creeds. There are thousands of named religions out there, but even if we could freely choose among them it can be reasonably argued that religion is much more personal than that.

Well, in communist countries, like where I was born, people were forced to deconvert from their religions to become members of the so-called "red religion"... without success. Atheists want to do something similar on internet and other real institutions using emotional manipulation and other kinds of psychological and even economic pressure against believers... They will surely not succeed either.

Believing in the Creator is as natural as the fact that we all have human father and mother. ... although rebellious children will continue to exist for now.
Interesting that such a supposedly natural thing (which is hardly the same thing as actually holding a religion) is so dependent on cultural demands, eh?

Is there a religion that has a creator entity that started the Cosmos rolling with a big bang and then stepped away to do something else and never came back? I would convert to that religion if forced.

If the Frisbeetarians won't have me (and why would they?), I would consider joining the Delmonteans, who believe that the Jolly Green Giant created the universe. When they pray to him they say, "Allahu akhdar (God is Green)".

If it were pagans, Hindus or certain Buddhists doing the conversion it could be easier but not likely.

The operative word here is forced. Likely, none. I would be one of those ones tortured, possibly to death. Death would be preferable over being forced into anything. There you have it. My new religion would be death, dead, executed, etc. If not death than possible imprisonment till death. Either way, it'd be a really dark religion no matter.

Come join the Pastafarians. We won't torture you. We might tempt you with some spaghetti, though. You'd get along well with Captain Mosey and the pirates. They can use some help holding back global warming. If not, it's all good.
