seems quite likely.. Mange is nasty business.

Here is a pic someone took of a Coyote they shot with severe Mange... it looks almost identical to the image being shown as the 'mystery beast'. (pic taken from nebraska hunting forum)

some other examples of the ick and frankly horror that is mange.
fox kit with mange (bad but treatable sadly it blinded him): http://www.sandypineswildlife.org/Fox%20kit%20with%20mange.jpg
another dog with mange:

I remember when this was first reported and there were thousands of people claiming it was El Chupacabra.

yeah, El chupacabra is the hot 'cryptid' today.
Some say its an alien, some a military/genetic exparament gone wrong, some a spirit of some sort.... he's green or grey, hairy or bald, man like or lizard like, and on and on...

the only thing the witnesses seem to agree on is that it likes to eat livestock. :D

Yeah, I've read he's a hairy beast-like thing, red, glowing eyes (why do mystery beasts always have red glowing eyes?) long tongue with which he laps up the blood from the livestock he kills (hence, El Chupacabra meaning "Goat Sucker"), likes to hang out in trees, can jump extra high, and so on and so forth.

I've got a thing for mystery beasts and unexplained phenomena.
