None of the above really encapsulate the root of humanity's problems. There are a few different ways to frame that root, but in the present moment with the light of the Full Moon gracing the night sky, tonight it will be framed as thus:

:waxcrescent::firstqmoon::fullmoon: The cause of most human problems is the inability to accept and adapt to change. :fullmoon: :lastqmoon::wancrescent:
To add, humans have a habit of not accepting things for what they are and supposing the universe should be something other than what it is. They also have a habit of expecting the universe to conform to their expectations of it and then call it a "problem" when the universe inevitably fails to do that. As such, "problems" are an artefact of perspective. Accepting and embracing the world for what it is - and embracing that will inevitably change - makes one not see "problems" but the "what-is." Put another way, suspend expectations and problems disappear.

Hope you get to feeling better

Thanks! I'm feeling okay; my comment was facetious.

I couldn't pick any of the choices in the poll, as I don't feel they're comprehensive or nuanced enough. The causes of the world's problems seem to me to differ based on time, place, and circumstances. Sometimes they include greed, sometimes prejudice, and sometimes even things as simple as a sports game or competition.

I wish I could see the poll results without having to vote, though. :D

Change it :)

For another perspective - when it's not the Full Moon and themes of transformation and change are in the forefront of my mind - another way to tell the story is to understand that diversity and heterogeneity of the universe is the root of all problems. In a universe with lots of different things in it, different things come into contact with one another. And if they aren't all the same - same particle size, same momentum, same everything - they can interact with each other in ways that both cooperate and conflict.

Thinking about this is part of why I've never been of the mind to "solve" all of the world's "problems." Even setting aside the hubris of such a statement, to rid the world of "problems" would mean eliminating it entirely.

Politics, greed, power hunger, crime, and drugs.

Another cause of most problems is a lack of make out sessions. If more and more people spent their free time cuddling and kissing, this world would have a lot less problems.

I was going to pick "not enough chicken suits to go around", but it wasn't an option.

Toping my list are
  • lack of love,
  • pride,
  • selfishness.
However, what's responsible can be summed up in a few words, and one scripture.
Lack of Godly wisdom.

(James 3:13-18)
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him by his fine conduct demonstrate works performed with a mildness that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and contentiousness in your hearts, do not be bragging and lying against the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above; it is earthly, animalistic, demonic. 16 For wherever there are jealousy and contentiousness, there will also be disorder and every vile thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, not hypocritical. 18 Moreover, the fruit of righteousness is sown in peaceful conditions for those who are making peace.

There are a lot of bad behavioral traits that have been carried down family trees for hundreds of thousands of years, and can branch off in interactions with people outside of their family tree and begin a new lineage of bad behavioral traits. Being an a-hole is a disease.

An upset stomach and having a taco on that same upset stomach.

I went to a church service after eating a spicy cheesy burrito... and had gas through the whole service and even afterwards. It made me think twice about eating it before going to work one time. I oped for something else instead.
