I'm not that into tv watching, but my fiance got me into Game of Thrones, recently...and it's awesome.

Just wondering what tv programs/genres are popular in your country? :)

Specifically in Australia? The Chasers, they're comedians. Right now they're doing a spoof news game-show I think, Either way I love it.
Underbelly was pretty big here for a while a few years back. I don't know really, I don't watch the actual tellie anymore.

What's popular right now for me though is The Magicians on syfy. First few eps were a bit meh, but then it just exploded with amazing awesomeness. Ignore people who say it's just a grown ups harry potter because it's much better than that.
Then it's - The 100, Once upon a Time, Last Week Tonight, Vice on HBO, Tosh.0, The Originals, And then I've been rewatching Wilfred. I'm waiting for Banshee, GOT, Daredevil and some other shows to come on.

Some popular current ones.....
- Better Call Saul (the prequel to Breaking Bad)
- The Walking Dead
- Fear The Walking Dead
- The Americans (about murderous commie spies raising a family here)

There are more, but I'll leave something for others to post.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Stupid hillbilly, cops and prison, and ghost shows. Bout all there is now. Of course there's cupcake wars. Oh joy of joy.

I don't know. My friends and I are too busy watching Netflix (American) to watch Aussie TV anymore. I guess Neighbors or whatever. I liked some Underbelly. But I mostly watch American shows or Brit shows. Addicted to crime shows at the moment. UKs New Tricks and Silent Witness which seems more Scottish than anything.
I like Grimm, Once Upon a time, GoT and marathoning The Sapranos. An oldie but good.

I'd say Game of Thrones, but I'm pretty sure that's more of a global thing. I pretty much watch everything online - especially youtube, hulu, or netflix.

I've also been enjoying old episodes of Hell's Kitchen with my girlfriend, lately. It's oddly relaxing to watch Ramsey screaming at people when you've had a long and stressful day. XD

In the UK, I'd say soap-operas with the viewers and reality shows (cheap!) with the companies.

My own watching is less than an hour a day, but I always see NCIS (not the LA one, though), Person of Interest, Antiques Roadshow, and University Challenge. I figure that as long as I can still hold my own in the last, I'm not senile yet!

We watch -

Walking Dead
Fear the Walking Dead
Z Nation
The Big Bang
Vikings
Shannara Chronicles
Lucifer - I get a kick out of this one.
Colony
The Expanse
Helix
Blindspot
Into the Badlands
Mysteries of Laura
Expedition Unknown
What On Earth
Several CSI
Several NCIS
And more, LOL!

I hope the ones that are off for the season - come back on.

We record all of the shows, - so we can watch them when we want, - and so we can skip the commercials. :D

I wouldn’t know. I haven’t watched TV on a regular basis for over 12 years. Since I don’t watch TV I had become more selective on what I do watch. No longer am I being spoon fed by the networks on what they think I should be watching. I’m not held hostage by the latest trends or fads on TV. I’m in complete control of what I watch. The internet is my primary source. The internet has a much wider selection of material. Most of the material I watch on the internet comes from YouTube, Yahoo and various news sites. I receive alerts from Yahoo and Google on topics I have chosen. I watch movies on Netflix and use a file sharing program. Even though I do not watch TV I’m probably more informed on what is going on in the world then most.

Scandal, Big Bang Theory, and Blacklist seem to be popular here, but my favorite by far is Jane the Virgin.

There are so many programs I've never heard of lol I think it's so interesting for those who live outside of the US, your shows do not air here in the states. I imagine though, that most of the US shows air where you live?

I'm nearly through with the first season of GOT, and I'm saddened by the last episode, but mostly find the writing and acting...brilliant!! And riveting.

This is so cool, the only show I'm somewhat familiar with is Vice. lol :)

Equally cool, is that no one here in the states calls the television...a 'tellie.'

Tellie is a Brit colloquism that Aussies inherented.

Btw, caution to all.
I once recommended Game Of Thrones to an ardent feminist who asked for some interesting shows to watch.
That did not turn out well.

Finally, I found a show that I could offer to them.......

In our house: Say Yes to the Dress. My wife's kinda addicted. :) Also: any show that involves building tiny houses.

Other shows that seem popular (in my group of friends, anyhow):

- Game of Thrones
- Walking Dead
- Bates Motel
- Mythbusters (though I was kinda disappointed by the series finale)
- The Rick Mercer Report

The last one is a Canadian comedy news magazine-type show. The closest you have on American TV is the Daily Show, but that doesn't really capture it.

Football.
Apart from that only old people shows.

The 30s and under usually watch US shows on the net.

Yep, I watched the first few shows and decided it was made for teens. Perhaps now I will take a second look.
