What we know about the four objects shot down over North America

The article explains the technical basis of why we've spotted them now - basically we were ignoring small, slow moving objects. And there was a sensible point about the "are these aliens" quote. This article is behind a WaPo paywall.

Are these alien craft?...

“I’ll let the intel community and the counterintelligence community figure that out,” VanHerck said. “I haven’t ruled out anything.”

This is not really a confirmation from the government that these might be alien aircraft. It is a comment from the government that they’re not theorizing on a source. It’s like asking a literalist whether the sun will rise in the morning; they have no reason to think it won’t, but they can’t rule out the possibility that it might not.

So he and we can’t rule out that these are alien vessels, but it seems unlikely that aliens traveled through space and rolled up to Alaska and western Canada in small inflatable aircraft.
...
Why are there so many objects showing up right now? It probably seems as though the continent is being inundated with flying objects at the moment. But that’s in part because the military has tweaked its radar settings to better detect small, slow objects.
...
As we’ve written, there are a lot of things that might fit into that category. Schoolchildren often conducted an experiment in science class in which they send up a weather balloon to capture images of the curvature of the Earth. It’s not expensive to do! But those will not be registered flights (the way that the scores of weather balloons released by government observers are) and could be the sorts of things that NORAD is now flagging.
...
In the press call this weekend, VanHerck admitted another reason there are more reports of flying objects: There is “a heightened alert to look for this information.” While this isn’t an admission of a political role, it’s obvious that the Biden administration hopes to avoid another situation in which a balloon-like object is floating over the country for a week. There’s little doubt that the military has been given broader clearance to down aircraft as a result.

So he and we can’t rule out that these are alien vessels,
Yes, we can. This isn't Babylon 5 or Star Trek but the real world. I mean, technically you can't prove there's not a murderous gnome stalking you and waiting for you to feel completely and entirely safe and secure before it tears you to shreds. But that is preposterous and should be rightfully denied and no credibility given to it.
These aren't alien spacecrafts.

Just judging be appearance of the first one, I believe this has something to do with the security devices that prevented the escape from “The Island”.

Is it possible that we are all prisoners?

I get the humor intended on your part, but really it's infuriating what this general did. Why the hell do we have a top military leader who is entertaining such lunacy? This is a position of very high responsibility and such a thing should have been shot down itself.

How high does American air space go up? Is the moon in danger of being shot down?

Well, I guess they'll have to examine the wreckage and see what they see. Speculation is pointless until they've actually done that.

They still haven't really even given much information on the first Chinese balloon that was shot down. The Chinese say it was an errant weather balloon. What do our own intel agencies know, and what evidence do they have to prove that it's a spy balloon?

You're asking 'weather' it was a spy balloon??

Simple question: When these are shot down is the debris collected for analysis? Or is it obliterated? Can't they get close-up pictures of these things?

Does someone already know some answers, but they are being withheld for some reason?

Why so mysterious?

Extraterrestrials Admit Responsibility for Unidentified Objects but Claim They Were Only Monitoring Weather

OUTER SPACE (The Borowitz Report)—Extraterrestrial beings have admitted surveilling the United States with high-altitude objects, but claimed that they did so only to monitor the weather.

The revelation appeared in an official statement released to the American media by an organization calling itself the Intergalactic Command Force.

I think the aliens probably picked up the famous records which were place in the Voyager probe.

So, they decided to pay Earth a visit and realized what it's really like...
