What will happen in 2012?

The only way to find out is to wait. And wait. Alittle over 7 years. It will probably sneek up on us before we even notice 2006 is over with.

Don't do that, you gotta wait around and see what happens.

I coudn't read the whole article (I don't like reading big long internet things), but why do they think the world is going to end. Is it just because the calander ends? (because that would be really dumb. "oh no. The world is going to end in december, because that's when my calander ends!) or does it actually say, "this is the last day forever!!!" or something equally ominous?

I know most of you have heard about the Mayan calender and the end/beginning of an age, for those that don't heres a link... http://www.crawford2000.co.uk/maya.htm

So what do you think will happen at this time?
That is actually one of the least,'Oh my god, we're all gonna die/Mulder said the aliens are coming/Scully!' articles I've read on that particular subject.

The gist I get is that the calender ends - not because the world ends - but because it's a bloody perpetual calender and you need to go back to the start the next day rather than repeating the information that's already there.

So would the Mayans, if they were still around to need a calender.:D
Yea , that was my thought . Their calendar outlived the culture . :(

It is kinda like Atlantis . Why do people look to other people who have died off for advice ? Do they really believe that we learn from our mistakes ?

Yeah, well, you'd think if they'd had the answers, they'd still be around to do guest spots on Oprah, wouldn't you.

If the end of the world is going to come soon, then let it come. No need to worry or fear now. If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. That's life, it needs to come to an end eventually.

I predict my youngest will be finishing up his bachelor's and getting ready to go off to animal med school.

I predict my oldest will have furnished me with a grandchild (or so they tell me that is when they've planned to have one).

Beyond that...only God knows.

What will happen in 2012?

The popular belief is that the little people living inside of the Earth's mentle will break out and take over the world. Humans will be ejected from the Earth in a single-filed line through a weak-gravity spot in the South Pole.

Others, more radical theorists believe in a more, crazy, theory that the year 2012 just signifies the beginning of another cycle in the Mayan Calander and nothing more. For example we have decades, centuries, and millenia where as the Mayans may have these "cycles." Whutttttevar. Wackos :bonk:
