What would happen if one popular belief such as a religion or political belief or even a culture or a country or a race of people tried to take over

Country, i think the Christian right is trying hard to get control of America and would welcome taking over the world.

As would Islam.

But i don't think it can happen. There would be too much resistance and no one country has the resources to police the world.

The world ? And make everyone submit would this ever happen? and if so would it ever be successful ?

I don’t believe it would be successful in terms of taking over the full world because there will always be people willing to defend their nation and fight back. What would happen? There will be people who would find ways to disrupt it and fight back. It’s extremely difficult to maintain that level of control over the masses because of inherent diversity of beliefs and personality traits

Depends whether they have the power to enforce the take over. It's bad enough with a two party system. In a one party system like some communist countries it can be down right oppressive.

WW2. A lot of misery for a lot of people followed by the eventual defeat of the fascists. Then a period of common sense, until the memories fade and people directly involved die off, and it all tries to happen again.

The domination of the church (in Europe). A long period of stagnation followed by (mostly) peaceful change. Some people want to reinstate it.

These things never die completely. The main lesson is that the earlier it's nipped in the bud, the easier it is to prevent.
