What would you do?

If you can do one thing to help others, what would it be and what would you do?

I would dedicate my life to make sure that those who need a roof over their head, food on the table, employment to support families, and a better life gets all that they deserve.

I grew up sometimes with no roof over our heads, no food on the table and my father was unemployed. I know what it's like since I have been there. I learned to work hard at making sure that we now have a roof over our heads, food on the table and employment.

I guess that's why I chose the field I am in now. I make sure that the clients have a roof over their heads, food on the table and help them seek employment. I wish I could do more.

I don't restrict myself to "one thing". I am the skipper for the incredible ScubaDucks where I teach kids how to ScubaDive for free. I host many, many non-profit web sites for free. I teach First Aid and CPR for free to the Boy Scouts. I help with a homeless shelter on a semi-regular basis. Could I do more? Not at the moment... the wife would kill me! :D

That's very commendable, mrsC.; the trouble is that (well, here anyway) most people in the 'poverty, no roof over their heads' position will not help themselves. Whilst I applaud the work you do, I am a bit doubtful of the outcome; we tried this here for a while, and found that the word soon got around the country that we here were 'a soft touch'; people have to WANT to get themselves out of their ruts.

The only exception to those I have mentioned above are the youngsters, thrown out of their homes by parents who say "O.K you're sixteen, now get out and earn some money and look after yourself........."
