What's of the mind worth keeping?

It is said we "are" not defined by our character (I am optimistic), status (I am the CEO), emotions (I am happy), functions (I am a parent), and relationships (I am a child of god). Yet, we believe we are defined by them. Since all of these are of the mind in one way or another, when we extract these things: character, status, emotions, functions, and relationships, from our identity (not seeing them as our selves), what do we have left?

Spiritually speaking, its assumed that if one sheds these things we identify with, we connect with our true selves. Spiritually-what is of the mind (above) worth keeping spiritually?

We cannot take what we have and our experiences with us after we die; but, why are they devalued because they are temporal in nature?

Let go of all the rest but hold onto the humor. :D

someone said once, you have to go out of your mind to find your heart, which is why most people never find it, since they couldn't bear the idea of losing "their mind" which they depend on so much for everything [so people think]....

IMHO:

Here you are about to grasp "your true reality"

We cannot take what we have and our experiences with us after we die
Here you slide back

but, why are they devalued because they are temporal in nature?
It's not about to devalue things, it is about becoming aware that those things are "unreal" as to become aware of "Who Am I"

That's what I believe. We can't thereby what we have now is our spiritual life not the hereafter or continuation thereof.

It's not about to devalue things, it is about becoming aware that those things are "unreal" as to become aware of "Who Am I"

The context is the same-unreal to some, devalued by others.

If everything else is unreal, then what is worth keeping?

What part of your mind are you willing to part with?
If you "extract" all that makes us humans, then you are left without humans.

Braking the silence to answer your question:)
The only "thing" worth holding on to is the empty silent mind :)
(Going back to the oath of silence now :) )

Sounds like the old " freshman identity crisis".
