Seriously though, I would say the worst torture that I can think of would be doing inhumane things to people that the person cares about.

I think the worst thing that can be done to another human being is to hurt his family or the person(s) they love. To make them feel such pain and make them feel helpless in doing so. I couldn't imagine someone hurting my children while I had no control in saving them from such pain. That to me would be the worse thing of all.

Along with hope, take away their freedom. I know what it's like to live without freedom, and you can't appreciate it fully untill you lived without it. It's an absolutely dreadful experience.

I would agree with taking away their Hope . As long as there is Hope of gaining Freedom , Salvation , or whatever , we seem to be able to move forward , But remove that Hope ....
