When Do you open your Christmas presents?

When Do you open your Christmas presents?

Christmas eve we go to midnight mass, then when the children were in bed we put the presents round the tree.

We have always opened our presents After lunch on Christmas Day. About 3.00 pm
The children had a few small stocking fillers and sweets (candies) to wake up to, but nothing special.
These kept them busy up till Church... then the Lunch... a walk round the block... Presents... a snooze in the chair ...Tea time...........Friends at anytime...

This is still the routine today.... I don't know when the family started it but for sure we did it with my Gradpa.

When we were little (me and my brother, that is), we used to go to church at about 8-ish on Christmas Eve. After we got back, we were allowed to open 1 present. I always ended up picking the dumb thing and my brother picking the cool thing. Like one day I picked a stupid snow globe, whereas my brother chanced to open a portable cd player. :bonk: Then, as we got older, we just started opening them all on Christmas Eve after church. That was a few years ago that we started doing that; it was probably the year Santa didn't come, because then there was really no reason to wait til the next day.

Christmas morning usually, though i'm not really expecting anything this year as I don't want anything.

When the kids lived at home, there was a mad dash downstairs early, when they could each open one present, and they would then have to wait until they were showered and dressed.

As for the adults, some time in the morning, when the Chef and all her sous-chefs are busy cooking, drinking and trying to open presents. I wonder why our dog always hides at christmas ? (actually, she hate crackers). I just hate the jokes.

We do have our younger one here for Christmas (though I don't know if he will make it this year); somehow, without kids, it seems very 'cold'.

Sad, but the same goes for many non Christians.

But I am sure you have had gifts when Christians would not have.

You all are silly. Santa doesn't even come till around midnight! Then when everyone is awake, mom's had her cup of tea and I my coffee, then it's time to see what Santa brought! ;)

Christmas Eve for the adults (Father Christmas only comes for the kids after all) and early in the morning for the children. It's always been this way in my family, probably because I come from a long line of German Lutherans and Czech Catholics. Luckily Orthodox Romanians do the exact same thing so my wife's traditions dovetail with mine nicely.

We always let the children open one gift on Christmas Eve.
My Parent's used to buy them their Christmas jammies to wear to bed, so now we have to keep up the tradition and that's the gift they open. And the children know that once they've opened that gift, it's bed time. It sort of keeps them off our back about opening a gift on Christmas Eve because then they know the night is over and it's off to bed! :biglaugh:

well, when i was young it was impossible for my parents to keep presents from me and my brothers, so we opend them at about 8:00 am, and then the adults did theirs after church

now that im 18, and my brothers are 20 and 12, we all go to church on christmas morning, then do lunch, maybe a small walk if its not too cold, presents, coffee, dinner, and then the tradition trivia persute

That's funny. We play trivial persute, too.

Whoa! I just figured out who you are. I thought to myself, "Hmm, this guy has the same avatar as C_P. That's confusing." Then I saw your religion, and I got even more confused, then I finally got it. Wow. :bonk:

We did (still do) the PJ thing. Christmas Eve we always get to open one present. It took about 13 years before I realized that it was always pjs.

Christmas morning, when everyone is up, we open our presents. We go around from youngest to oldest and open them one at a time. When everyone is done we watch my mom open the rest of her presents (my dad always makes sure that she gets at least five more than everyone else).

I don't find that very funny. I hate trivial pursuit. :149:
