I'm sitting at the library, overseeing my younger kids play with trains, marbles, legos, and all kinds of other fun toys. Something called Magnatiles have recently become popular, and it seems the library has built up a good set of them. Toys are always changing.

What did you play with when you were a kid? (By kid, I mean under 10.)

Lego!

Specifically Lego Fabuland

Basically anthropomorphic animals, aimed at boys and girls

Played with it with my sister and my mum

The other week I saw my childhood legos for the first time in over 25 years

They had been in the attic for years

There seemed so few of them, I cannot believe all the fun we had with them, they are a big part of my childhood memories

My folks were more about pushing experiences over things. I hated that at the time, but as an adult, am deeply thankful they took a non-materialistic approach to their kids. That's not to say there weren't material things involved, but it's not the stuff that my memories focus on. The things I did as a kid more or less explain how it was inevitable I ended up as a Pagan and a Druid as an adult. For example, Pagans and Druids are very artsy and craftsy people and I did arts and crafts a lot with my folks. This time of year we'd have been painting ornaments with acrylics.

Lincoln logs, Tinker toys, tiddly winks.....I always was jealous of children who had big wheels, I was too old for such.

I'm sure I played with something when I was under 10, but I don't actually remember what.

Tinkertoy! My cousin had a meccano set, and it was great too.

What's a meccano set?
Building set with steel beams, nuts, bolts, etc. You could keep adding to it. Same principle as Lego but far more complicated. Something future engineers would relate to. (You can also google it, still available I see)
