When they say you play the race card too much

People like Jean Cramer keeps shuffling the deck. You can't make this stuff up. Grant it this town has a population of 10,000, people who think like here is very much common in the U.S. I have to give her one thing she has guts compared to others who hide their views in private.

Just another good ole Christian...

Sooo...you've talked to every community in the US? If you watch the video without bias you'll see she was grossly outnumbered in regards to her opinion. Makes one wonder who's playing the race card in this OP....just sayin'.

She said she wanted to keep Marysville as American born white as possible. That something less than seriously evil in my books.

This clip has been all over the news because it's 2019 where the pendulum on racial talk has swung so far in the other direction since let's say the 1960's. Just hearing such a thing is supposed to make us stunned and outraged.

It wasn't that big a deal to generate the attention that it is getting. It's like the media thirsts for things like this to stir up emotions. It was one city council candidate no one ever heard of in a little city no one heard of.

We have gotten oversensitive is my point and are searching for things to stir up emotions once again. The media hates racism but they will sure not hesitate to stoke flames to get attention.

The election has not occurred yet. She did drop out, but the ballots have already been printed.
Why did she drop out?

Sounds like she found out that even the town she thought she knew wasn't as racist as she thought it is.
Maybe it's not as racist as @Epic Beard Man thinks it is either.

Maybe America isn't as racist as Epic Beard Man thinks it is.

Yeah.....she's an idiot.......
As far as the "race card" thing....it does get overplayed sometimes. That is important to note, because when it really is a race thing....and it is often enough, overplaying can reduce the impact. People just stop looking for a wolf when you cry wolf every day.

And these days, every triggering incident of racism will hit the news.
The spotlight fallacy applies, ie, making one think that these things
define all of reality.

She didn't say "American white" she said white..

That something less than seriously evil in my books.

It may not be evil in the sense of murder or physical harm, but it's nonetheless a racist mentality to have especially if she plans on being a representative in her town. There is certainly a problem when a political constituent wants to keep a particular area of a particular ethnic demographic.

This clip has been all over the news because it's 2019 where the pendulum on racial talk has swung so far in the other direction since let's say the 1960's. Just hearing such a thing is supposed to make us stunned and outraged.

No, this clip just signifies that we do not live in a post racial society. As the gentleman in the first video had said, he had to look at his calendar to make sure it's 2019. This woman's mindset is so warped because she lives in the early 1900's and Jim Crow era that even in the second video she doesn't believe her antics were racist.

It's like the media thirsts for things like this to stir up emotions.

so now it's the media's fault? The woman clearly said among her constituents that she wants her town to be white. The media wasn't looking for this, even the panel was shocked as your heard the third woman on the right gasp. Like a true Trumpian, you blame the media when it was her, not cameras, not the reporters who made those remarks.

We have gotten oversensitive is my point and are searching for things to stir up emotions once again.

So wait, we're just supposed to overlook a woman's racist comment who is running for a political office who is supposed to represent EVERYBODY? Why would I feel comfortable a person like that is running for a political seat who feels that it's against the Bible to have an interracial marriage? She is supposed to represent all Americans who live there.

All over, more so in the Bible belt south

You are mistaken there. From what I gather it's the worst in the midwest, the north, and then the south. More black folk live in the south than the other areas. So we grew up with em side by side. Seems like in the areas where black folk is less common you have more white supremacy.

Why did she drop out?

My undergraduate professor once told my class "there are no stupid questions" but......

Sounds like she found out that even the town she thought she knew wasn't as racist as she thought it is.

Did I ever say in this thread specifically that this town was racist? Was that a part of my title? Did I mention it in the OP? Your attempt to sound clever ( in the fantasy world in your mind) had failed miserably.

Maybe America isn't as racist as Epic Beard Man thinks it is.

Racism in the United States still exists. Racism is still an issue. Racism is not a dead issue and we still have issues with systemic racism. The main point here is that she was bold enough to express herself while running for a political seat for her town. She is supposed to be a representation of all the people that inhabit that town not just for s specific group of people. The fact is racism in a supposed post racial society is very much and still a part of the fabric of this society. Being chastised by what several people doesn't take away from the fact that it is very much a part of our society.

Yeah.....she's an idiot.......

That is an understatement.

As far as the "race card" thing....it does get overplayed sometimes.

In situations that don't require it, yes. I deal with it all the time at work especially when even my own demographic that sin't being seen immediately would yell racism without knowing my unit is overworked and understaffed. I've had to step in and do major damage control and few times so yes, I know. However, I believe when systemic and blatant prejudice has been a part of your life you do develop an oversensitive attunement to what you perceive to be racism prejudice.

That is important to note, because when it really is a race thing....and it is often enough, overplaying can reduce the impact.

I agree. In addition what is also important to note is that we cannot stop discussing it just because one group is tired of hearing it. I believe what is lost in some sectors of our society is empathy and people's unwillingness to see the other side through a person's eyes and their experiences.
