When you #resist - keep these in mind

A great list of how to #resist the current regime

1. Don't use his name.
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone.
3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work.
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state.
5. Keep your message positive. They want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies grow.
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk.
7. Support artists and the arts.
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it.
9. Take care of yourselves.
10. Focus on effective action to slow down and stop regressive policies and people.

I agree with pretty much all of these but I want to make a note on #3 and to add some thoughts on it.

Whilst supporters of the regime may be difficult to talk to, it is worth keeping in mind that understanding them is not the same as agreeing with them. Being offended or outraged does not necessarily get people to change their minds- and for the purpose of resistence, that is what matters. Finding patterns in why people support the current regime, recurring issues and identifying areas of common ground can help dialogue go beyond partisan politics to discussing what Americans want as a country and for their future. If you find people who are sceptical or willing to criticise the regieme and its policies even whilst outwardly supporting it, be open to their views and keep the chaneels of communication open as you may learn something from them that helps deal with other supporters next time around. Whatever you may think, You need their support in the long run. Don't be blinded to the difference that can be made one person at a time.

Oh and Keep it up Sunrise, you're doing great! :D

You might as well add
11. Do not allow opposing views to be heard by any means necessary.

On the contrary. The stupidity of so many Right Wing opposing views is one of the best recruitment tools the Left has. Just about every time he tweets, he creates Leftists.
and every time the Left has violent protest or even protest against a speaker with another view reinforces the idea that the left are of the Brown Shirt equivalency

Saying "the Left" violently protests speakers when it is only a small faction of militants who do so is like saying "Christians" are racists on the basis that the KKK are both Christian and racist.

I think we REALLY need a glossary! left, right, liberal, conservative, feminist, SJW, neo-con, libertarian...

What do these terms really mean? I suspect very few people can be accurately labeled so easily. Borrowing as I do from Confucius, the labels we're asked to accept and use cause more FUD than they do clarity. And, I also believe that the REAL enemy of 99.9999% of us is "the oligarchy".

I think that if we got really clear about core values, the vast majority of us would come together and give Washington a radical redesign.

How about the non-violent left protest that will not allow a speaker to speak if their ideas are not in concurrence with theirs? Still reminds me of the Brown Shirts that I studied in history classes.

Oh make a gay joke about the guy who killed lots of them in his holocaust, how nice.

Why don't you post a picture of Hitler as a stereotypical Jew next?

How many arrests and how much property damage? I know you watch Fox, because that's what I watch. Everything you say is from them. Turn off the fake news. Nazi's were far right wingers, Trumpkin territory. Teaparty supporters, etc.

Actually I'm going to sort-of agree with you on #3 in theory. I found a few years ago that the left and many tea party types agreed on many of the problems but those I interacted with did not want to acknowledge that agreement for the most part. Or they said OK and then there was a very large BUT followed by ranting. Now things are worse but there are at least a few remaining who agree on facts and are at least willing to agree on the nature of the problems we face.

That would be nice.

But at this point my friends and I think we're fighting an all out war to keep America from being destroyed which does not leave a lot of psychic energy. It also leads to the caution about checking for fake news or at least fear-inducing distortions of the news by some on the left which have sadly become all too common.

I find it rather interesting that whenever a President gets elected, America reacts as if the sky is falling. I'm no fan of Trump by any stretch, but like I remember when Obama was first elected. People were taking bets as to when the poor guy would be assassinated. I mean the world at large watched as America ran around like headless chickens.
Trump might do a lot of bad, I'm not saying he's a fantastic leader or anything. But maybe you guys can survive this 4 year term relatively unscathed. I mean it could be worse, right? You could have Pence running the show.
As for left or right? From my perspective y'all as bad as each other.

This seems a good thread to inform all that I'm in a mixed marriage.
Mrs Rev is a Democrat who voted for the Hildabeast.
And she just donated money to moveon.org to fight Trump.
For her, the sky is falling.
I don't criticize.
I know which my bread is buttered on.
