When you say Jesus is Lord?

When you say Jesus is Lord, what does that mean to you?

In the New Testament of the Holy Bible (the book of Romans 10:9) God inspires the following:

Romans 10 (New International Reader's Version)

8 But what does it say? "The word is near you. It's in your mouth and in your heart."—(Deuteronomy 30:14) That means the word we are preaching. You must put your faith in it.
9 Say with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord." Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved. 10 With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say that Jesus is Lord. And so you are saved. 11 Scripture says, "The one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."—(Isaiah 28:16)

****************************************

Plainly, the word "lord" indicates the ruler over a thing or person. Because Jesus The Christ is Lord of all (indicated also by the capitalizing of the letter "L") ... this includes you & I.

Here's why ...

Salvation:
When one receives (accepts as truth) by their own measure of faith & by their own profession, that God raised "The Son of man" (Jesus The Christ) from the dead for your sins ... that you may have a right to sit with Him in Heaven eternally ...

THEN ...

You have received Salvation - you are Saved ... FOREVER! And in doing so through your faith profession, you will simotaneously be indwelled with the presence of the Holy Ghost.

Amen?

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

It means you have given your life into the hands of God, to do with it whatsoever pleases him. It means that your will has been turned over to the father. You will to do the will of the father. It means that he REIGNS supreme in your life. That he is you maker, changer, saviour, healer, sustainer, and the very LIFE that flows through your being.

It means that you have come to realise, that without Him you are nothing and can do nothing of eternal worth. It means that you dont request or desire your own glory but delight to see and reflect the glory of god. You are at his disposal. You are not your own and you are not alone. It means that all of heaven are your friends and support you. It means that you inherit the kingdom.

When I say Jesus is Lord, it is saying that Jesus is my teacher, guide and prophet. By virtue of his teachings, life and example he is pointing us to God our loving parent.

Now my friends, this is the New Testament we are talking about. The same Testament that was a product of manipulation by people 'who saw fit'. Therefore not all of it is the Word of Allah.

Am I right in saying that it never came up before? Does this not raise suspicion?

Peace be upon you.

It means that Jesus is the undisputed ruler of all creation.

Does that mean Jesus is God? I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything. I know this is in the Christianity section and I'm not a Christian. I just don't get it. Wouldn't the ruler of all creation be the guy who created it?

 whereismynotecard,

As a Christ-Follower (a Christian) it is optimum to understand our Deity (God) as Triune (ONE God in 3 Persons):

Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:16; 19:5; Romans 6:3; 1 Cor. 1:13; 10:2 and Gal. 3:27.

Meaning, One who created the heavens & the earth - Genesis 1.

Yes ... We believe in the Father (The One to whom we pray, that is Spirit), as revealed in the book of Matthew 6th chapter. This chapter of God's Inspiration (The Holy Bible) also admonishes the disciples of Jesus The Christ in the following areas:
  1. Christian Benevolence (vs. 1-4)
  2. Prayer (vs. 5-15)
  3. Fasting (vs. 16-18)
  4. Eternal Reward (vs. 19-24)
  5. Unnecessary Preoccupations (vs. 25-34)
We believe in The Son (The One who was sent from the 3rd heaven by The Father, made flesh & dwelt among us - John 1:13-15, who became sin - Galatians 1:3-5, that we might receive Salvation & be "made Holy".

We believe in the "Promise" (our Comforter - The Holy Ghost ... the John 14:16, 26) that the Son made to humanity before He ascended into the 3rd heaven.

My friend, this Triune theology (One God in 3 Persons) has been one that has & probably will be debated as factual. Probably because this concept is not humanly logical, thus is a mystery to the unbeliever.

Just know that the only way the spiritual "knowledge" of our Triune Deity will rest well within you ... is when it is coupled with spiritual "wisdom" (2 of the 9 spiritual gifts freely given to all who confess, believe & are indwelled through/by Him.)

From my heart,

Gracious
:)
