When you're attracted to someone...

Out of purely passing, slightly uninterested, I might not even return to read this thread kind of curiosity, how do you handle your attractions?

It seems that most things get easier with age, but I can't quite get the hang of attraction. After several reasonably serious girlfriends and one very serious relationship I still haven't gotten used to this strange drive. It's one thing chancing it with women in clubs etc but another when you know the person in question well.

I'll be honest - I don't like it. It's a nuisance that I could do without. Since I've no choice, though, I feel should say something, but that's the problem, something leads to varied results and varied degrees of satisfaction on my behalf. I'm not convinced that explaining myself to this someone (and in the process feeling like a clown) is really worth the hassle. Not that I'm in that situation. Not me...nope.

The cake is a lie
I figure out why I'm attracted. Looks? Brains? Chemistry? After I figure out why, I figure out if I should act on it. Is this someone I could spend a lot of time with? Are we compatible? Is she someone I could see myself with years in the future? Is it one-sided, or is she attracted to me as well? If all those figure into a 'yes' answer, I'll fidget and fiddle with my feelings for a little bit before getting around to telling her.

And then from there everything I do is whatever I figure out as I go along :)

I think you worry too much, no one is forcing you into relationships even if you are attracted. Take it as it comes. If you think some one is too good for you to start a relationship, they may well be thinking the same thing about you.
If a relationship seems like too much trouble, you are not ready for it, let it go.
All friendships don't have to be serious relationships.

Dude. A few recommendations. If you are attracted to someone. Find a mature way to tell them. You have no idea how often assertiveness and confidence will get you action. Also, remember, you are a master of your own will. When you are attracted to something, think of that attraction not as a power pulling you, but a value you desire to possess. It's simply just one of many things you want and can get.

There are all kinds of ways to tell a woman that you are attracted to her, without coming off like an idiot or a creep. Whatever you do, NEVER tell a woman you are attracted to her with a look of sheepishness or lust. Women have no respect for men who worship them (at least, mature and secure women). Women respond to maturity and confidence. It would, of course, help if you looked good to boot. But whatever.

So natural an instinct shouldn't upset you! Indulge! :) Happiness will follow. Take a chance. Take a risk.
