Where and how do you see yourself in five year's time?

I guess the title sort of gives it away, but I am interested in how each one of you has expectations of yoursef, - or maybe 'goals'.

I know this won't apply to all members, but a lot of you are young, and must have ambitions, you must have plans.... If you feel you can share them, that would be great.:)

Hey! Are you trying to imply that *some* of us are too old to have goals? I plan on having goals when I'm 70!

Don't make me come over there and hurt you. ;)

How about still alive? :D And hopefully not having to struggle with bills as much. I've achieved most of my goals, so now just enjoying them.

Melody, and jgallandt, Of course you're still OK to have goals ! - where I recently joined a class in computing (nothing complicated - just how to use the plain old Microsoft office applications properly ), apparently a 92 year old passed the exams last year!

I may only be 56, but as I do feel much older than that (physically) and my memory is - what was I saying? ?? I tend to see everyone else as being much much younger than I - and that is not hastilly summoned flattery to cover a 'faux pas' - it is the truth.

Renaldo, what the heck do you mean?

You just made me feel young! :woohoo: I once heard in a seminar about a man who won a gold medal in the Olympics. Ever since he was a child that was his goal. But once he achieved it. he never set anymore goals. He became an unemployed alcoholic.

As I have discovered to my cost, it is the striving for that is pleasurable (with me) the achievement gives me little pleasure - sounds like your guy!:)

My dreams and ambitions are always flexible. The one thing that never changes is that in 5 years I will be older, more experienced and wiser. I believe these to be noble goals to put towards anything that I might be (still) doing in 5 years.

Five years still seems like a lot to me. Right now most of my goals deal with the next few months as I go into my first year of college. I do hope that in five years I'll be in graduate school (Is that what you call it? ). I'm not very good with setting goals though. I try to keep them small, but it's still good to have an idea where I'll be.

Ah, your first sentence gave away your age....
There must be an equation to the effect that the rate at which time passes is an exponential of the number of years we have lived.

I distinctly remember that eons passed between my birthdays when I was little; now, I look around, and five years go by...... especially when I look at my sons.

In five years I will be 55. I will have become well known in the field of self help. I am currently in the midst of creating a CD based upon relaxation, self hypnosis and guided imagery. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I finally stopped procrastinating and listening to negative feedback. I will achieve my goal by keeping my desire and drive, commitment and dedication, dicipline, perseverance, optimism and attitude of abundance alive! At the moment this work is for the "everyman" but in future I intend to focus in on helping specific groups of people like firemen, policeman, doctors, and the elderly.

In five years I will own my own home and be able to sare my wealth with those in need. And that's the fact, Jack! You will know my name! How's that for a positive attitude and a five year plan?:woohoo:

Joyfully,
Martha

In five years time, I see myself closing in on my pursuit of a Masters Degree in Business or whatever field that I may choose up until that time. I also see myself pursuing some type of a career and possibly planning to start my own business of some type. I see myself getting fitter and stronger physically and more focused mentally. I see the relationship between my girlfriend and I at its prime.

In five years time as for goals I would like to be published. I would like to find time to devote entirely to writing. I use to want to sing, and still would, but have accepted that the chances of doing so are slim unless I get the money to do a demo or something like that. and even then the chances are probably not in my favor as I am no spring chicken anymore and nowadays everyone seems to be starting out as a teenager:p .

When it comes down to it though, it doesn't matter to me what I am doing for a living or anything like that. As long as in five years time I am happy and loved then that is more than enough for me. I can live with the simple material things and scrape by financially...if I am happy and in love then that is the most important thing for me. Always has been.:)

Hmmm. In five years, I'll be 22, and graduating from college with a degree in sociology or education. I'll also be getting ready to join the Peace Corps for the next two years. And hopefully, I'll have learned spanish, become a published writer, and be better at public speaking. And maybe even have started my own small-scale hydroponics business.

I have a lot to get to :)
