Where do women stand in religious leadership in the 21st century?

The linked news article appeared in my FB feed yesterday and being close friends with many Southern Baptist women, this news is unsettling.

I don't agree with Baptist dogma, Southern, First, or whatever, as I'm not a conservative, Evangelical, or creed Christ follower. This actually bumps me out of many Christian worship communities, and that's okay. I'm very comfortable on the outskirts, however, I care a great deal about people, including seekers, so my question to RF participants is this:
Where do you stand with what the Southern Baptist Convention will be voting on next week?
1)Amendment proponents say the convention needs to reinforce its doctrinal statement, the Baptist Faith and Message, which says the office of pastor is “limited to men as qualified by Scripture.”

“If we won’t stand on this issue and be unapologetically biblical, then we won’t stand on anything,” said amendment proponent Mike Law, pastor of Arlington Baptist Church in Virginia.

OR
2) “To disfellowship like-minded churches … based on a local-church governance decision dishonors the spirit of cooperation and the guiding tenets of our denomination,” wrote Pastor Gregory Perkins, president of the SBC’s National African American Fellowship, to denominational officials.

“As they are saying women have less value to God than men in the church, we want to make sure that women know they do have equal value and that there are no limits to how they follow Christ in the work of the church,” [Baptist Women in Ministry, executive director, Rev. Meredith] Stone, said.

My best friend gave up work to spend 3 years doing a theology degree. She left uni and went straight in to her own church as local pastor. Now around 10 years later shes been a deacon and is now an elder (which i rib her mercilessly about) and works in church admin. She is invited to join various high flying and cross denomination committees.

But, this is the Methodist church in the UK, I don't know about other churches.

Methodist in the US don't seem to have a problem with female lead Pastors, which is good. Maybe they'll take some Baptist converts. LOL

I know one female Baptist minister that filled in for a rural Methodist shortage by taking on 5 churches. It astounds me that dedication can be turned away over sex; including homosexuality, but that's a different discrimination.
