Moved country again a year ago.

On my 8th city and 5th country now.

FWIW, a lot of people who have moved abroad or to a new city, even happily and for a long time, increasingly miss home (be that city or country) as time goes by. Not everyone, but more than you would think, even among those who couldn’t wait to get away and thought they’d never go back.

There is something to be said for staying “home”, but then again there is something to be said for going away :D

Well said! That feeling of wanting to leave a place but also missing it can be so complex and almost paradoxical. I know people who were glad to move to another country but sorely missed home in many ways.

I love many things about my country, so I know I'll miss those when I leave. I view relocation as a bunch of trade-offs; I think anyone who expects to find a paradise or a perfect place is bound to be disappointed in one way or another. The way I see it, it's just about which place's pros and cons are most suitable for a given individual and their situation.

Per the thread title and poll.

Whether or not you can move, do you wish to do so or not?
Though I want to stay where I currently live (NJ USA), I will probably move when I retire. The Cost of living and traffic drives me nuts. I will probably move to an area near enough to still visit by car.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Well, I am pleased with where I am but if I needed to move to another state I'd move to southern or western Virginia. If I needed to move to a different country, I'd probably move to the UK.

As soon as I read the first option, I chose it. Then I noticed that the last two applied as well. I've lived in six states, and changed countries fifteen years ago, all by choice except for the states the Army sent me to (IN, VA, MD). I've also lived in CA (born there), OH (went to university there), and MO (retired there; that last one is Missouri for those not familiar).
She has admitted to some difficulty with language since childhood. And I have seen her spell suit with a terminal e several times, but never commented on it. I never do unless somebody writes something like "Your an idiot." Also, if English is a poster's second language, I try to be helpful when I see errors if I trust the poster to understand my intentions and not be offended.
