I drink soda a bit (maybe too much I sometimes wonder, definitely too much according to my parents and dentist :p) and I'm convinced that the different containers give a different taste to the soda.

What do you think, and which is your favorite?

The only time I had a fountian drink that was better than the glass bottle was in a 1960's malt shop that was still operating as an antique shop. They kept the malt shop the exact same, with the same formula (heavy on the syrup, I imagine) that they used back then.... it was amazing. Other than that, it's hard to beat a glass bottle.... I can't stand it out of a can....

I mostly buy aluminum cans because they're cheaper and fit in the fridge better, but glass bottles are definitely better. No contest.

I used to be a "Soda Jerk" when I was eighteen at a place called "Michelle's" in Colorado Springs. It was an icon of the town/city and unfortunately closed due to a payroll tax issue, from what I hear.

I made soda the old fashion way and agree that is the best why to serve a soda.

It depends on the place, but I generally like fountain drinks the most.
Sometimes, like McDonalds coke of a fountain drink isn't good.
And I would rather have a bottle.
A glass bottle is good if it is cold, but I haven't had many of those
They don't often make them anymore. I had a cream soda in one
and it was good.
From a can would be my least favourite generally speaking.

Yea, your right. I definitely would agree with glass following with can, fountain, and then bottle in that order. Mostly because of fizz retention.

Plastic and fountain drinks for me seem to have a flatter taste for the most part. I like the sharp tingly sensation of carbonation.

Beer deserves its own thread.

My preference, best to worst:

Funnel
Glass
Keg
Can
Glass Bottle
Aluminum Bottle
Keg (to frosted glass)
Can
Keg (to plastic cup) - don't bother

I've never drunk beer from a funnel, so I had to leave that one out.

(I'm not as big a fan of cans as you are)

Hi everyone I'm new here, so no pic yet. i think it depends on what you are drinking. Glass bottles are probably the best all around tasting, especially for beer. I like coca cola in an ice cold can because it seems crisper that way, like it's more carbonated. I like mountain dew and orange or grape soda from a fountain machine. Plastic bottles just plain suck, maybe not so much for the taste as for how quick the get warm and how mine seem to always go flat before I am finished the beverage. Ah, I just got a craving for a yoohoo.

They still make glass bottles? I haven't seen Pepsi or any other soda in glass for years. I'd have to go to Galco's for anything in a bottle.
Having said that, I prefer my Pepsi straight from the source.

Glass, but not the ones you see on occasion today. It has to be the old 8-pack of 16 ounce returnable bottles that came in a cardboard box. The ones you would bring back to the store for the deposit.
