You can see that I'm holding an invisible phone to take the selfie. That's one of the mysterious technologies we had in Ancient Egypt.

The woman on the right is her best friend. Obviously all of us have changed since then. I now have a human head, for example, and I wear pants now after finally being able to afford them starting in 1500 BC or so.

(I've been saving up for a new phone since then. Should be able to afford an iPhone soon.)

While your distrust of my culture is noted, it is laudable to not take organisations' word at face value! Freedom House has some legitimate criticisms to be made about it. But if you put together enough groups' reports you generally get a good picture. A more easily trusted organisation is Reporters Without Borders, which also publishes reports on freedom of the press and freedom of information. Haha! I liked the ones I understood. Wouldn't do me much good to be friends with an Algerian on Facebook - I don't speak Arabic, French or any Berber languages

But freedom of speech on Facebook hasn't been highlighted as a problem in Algeria! Problems are with freedom of the press, in particular in relation to criticism of government figures by journalists in addition to blasphemy laws. Blasphemy laws are of course in and of themselves a major affront to free speech.
