Which Fictional Character Would You Be?

The title says it all: Which fictional character would you be?

I would like to be Sherlock Holmes. Skulking around the moors, wearing disguises, the amazing powers of observation and deduction, opium addiction *oops, didn't mean to include that one*, breadth and depth of knowledge, figuring out puzzles, bringing light where previously there was darkness.

Did I mention the cool pipe?

I *really* hope this thread does not die like pretty much all the other ones I start. So, how about some pity posts?

The hampster is ageless, I think!

I would be Jonathan Harker from Bram Stoker's Dracula. Yeah, he went through hell in the book, but I admire the character.

I would be Sigourney Weaver as "Ripley" in Alien. She was one bad *** chick! :D

Awhile back, we had a thread about what fictional character that reminds us of other forum members. It will be fun to see how people percieve themselves!

It's hard, but if I voice either of the characters that I personally empathize with, I'll come off sounding vain.

Oh dear! I have not read Dracula...what did Jonathon Harker go through that was so enticing?

And I don't know Roald Dahl's books either *sniff.*

Can you elaborate? What do you admire about these characters?

Hmmm...I'm noticing a lot of dark characters so far, and a vampire theme...

Gotta go give the girls a bath!

He was held prisoner in Dracula's Castle - fated to be food for Drac's female vampires. He escaped by scaling the walls that stretched over a deep chasm in the Carpathians mountains, then suffered a brain fever when he finally made it safely to a nunnery. On returning home, his beloved wife Mina fell victim to Dracula, and he was faced with the fate of either destroying Dracula or liberating Mina's soul by staking her in the heart.

Good stuff, huh?

I would like to be Phillip Marlow, of Raymond Chandler's private detective novels. He's a smart, tough, independant, wise a**, and always true to his own idea of what's right.

Lovely Butters, you just made my day.

Growing up, I found a kindred spirit in Sara Crewe, the main character in "A Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Young Sara has a deep love of storytelling, and she uses it to get herself and her friends through troubled times. When she arrives at the boarding school that sets the stage for most of the rest of the book, she is incredibly wealthy, but she treats people as she would want to be treated and is a dutiful pupil and a voracious reader. Her odd manners and politeness cause the school staff and unkind peers to call her a 'princess'. Later in the book, when she is left orphaned and (seemingly) penniless, she decides that if one is a princess while in furs, one can be a princess in rags. She doesn't forget the kindnesses done to her and she continues to be the same person though she's now living in the school's cold attic and living as an errand girl for the school. Toward the end of the novel, Sara no longer needs to pretend to be a princess- she's in furs again- but she continues to think of those who are in need. And treats them like the princesses they are worthy of being treated like, too.

With her rich fantasy life, love of books and fierce protectiveness of her friends and those less fortunate than her, I've tried to be a bit more like Sara every day.
