A good number of them are never acceptable (such as the Klan attire). And most of them it would depend on the situation. Wearing a gas mask would be fitting for Halloween (except alot of businesses don't allow customer's to wear a mask or anything that cover's their face), but any other time and you'll be watched like a hawk, either because people are assuming you're very paranoid, or you're up to something.

Violet.
I would say that in general
as things now stand
none of the above are "acceptable" in western society.

In other words they are not accepted in public,
as everyday wear,
by the general public.

I'm not saying this should be so ... but... so it is.

I personally would love it
if people dressed up more in masquerade/carnival style.
Classic, or Modern.
Life would be so much more colorful, mysterious, fun and alluring.
I think that people, would actually become
more colorful and mysterious themSelves, as a result.

But that's just my own preference.

Second to that.... Gotham City?
Halloween 365?
Well it is my favorite holiday by far.

In what way?

The Lone Ranger was a crime-fighter who never shot to kill. Why would eliciting that imagery necessarily be intimidating?

Dressing up like a marksman and expert in hand to hand combat?

Though I agree with you, at least, in the regards that the KKK hood is eliciting that imagery much, much more so.

Gas-masks are creepy, but necessary for certain military/industry/police uses. Carnival masks belong at a carnival, otherwise very creepy in an Eyes Wide Shut sort of way. Guy Fawkes masks are specific to Guy Fawkes Day in England but now because of the movie V for Vendetta they're starting to be used for other "political" purposes as well. Those KKK hoods are obviously unacceptable anywhere in polite society. Lone Ranger masks are fun for kids at Halloween or for private bedroom fun between 2 consenting adults (not judging). Palestinian scarves and Burkas are culture-specific and would only make sense if seen in the Middle East.

Did I miss any?

I think many of those are pretty unacceptable. But I think all of them should be legal.

I hesitated a bit about F, because it's almost always a symbol of hate, but I still think the garb itself should be legal. Whoever wears it should be very careful, based on their actions, not to cross the line into hate and intimidation, though.

A: Odd, but acceptable.
B: OK as long as it wasn't deliberately used to incite fear in the public.
C: OK.
D: Probably not. I can't see anything good coming out of this.
E: Sure, why not. "V" was just a movie.
F: Hell no. Don't get me started.
G: No. Tolerance of theology is fine; tolerance of misogyny is not.

Choice C rocks. The rest basically suck - for public use anyway. The Lone Ranger might not be so bad in, errr, private...

Rowr!
