Which Political System Do You Want?

Druidus

Keeper of the Grove
Remember, you are the average citizen, and not a part of the government.

Please, choose what fits you best, not what you think society isn't biased against.

Anarchism: Anarchism is a political theory which aims to create a society within which individuals freely co-operate together as equals. As such anarchism opposes all forms of hierarchical control - be that control by the state or capitalist - as harmful to the individual and their individuality as well as unnecessary.

Monarchy: A state or government in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of a monarch.

Democracy: Government by popular representation; a form of government in which the supreme power is retained by the people, but is indirectly exercised through a system of representation and delegated authority periodically renewed; a constitutional representative government; a republic.

Fuedal Monarchy: The practice of a monarchy with fuedalism added in. Fuedalism is a political and economic system of Europe from the 9th to about the 15th century, based on the holding of all land in fief or fee and the resulting relation of lord to vassal and characterized by homage, legal and military service of tenants, and forfeiture.

Theocracy: A government ruled by or subject to religious authority. Characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism.

Communism: A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, making progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

Social Democracy: A political theory advocating the gradual transition from capitalism to socialism, through democratic means. (As my friend from another forum said, "It's like communism lite! 1/3 the calories of normal communism!")

Chiefdom: A chiefdom is when small groups are governed by one chief each throughout the landmass. The chief is one who is highest in rank or authority; a leader. They are chosen through a combination of birth-right and contests of the mind and physical body.

Surrealism: We elect a painting for president, and then we see pretty colours and shapes! :jam:

My first choice, naturally enough, is surrealism. A painting for president! Yes!

My second choice is representative democracy -- what we have now. I think all political systems are idiotic, but at least in a representative democracy you can say the system is idiotic without being shot by the government.

In other words, the government owns all public jobs and citizens can manage private businesses. I think that capitalism is the cause of so many financial problems in this coutry. If the government had partial control over it, like in Social democracy, maybe there would be less homeless people begging for money on the street. Capitalism is harsh.

You describe an absolute monarchy. Countries like Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and UK are consitutional monarchies and democracies. The Spanish king can dissolve parlament, announce a new election and appoint the head of government; the others are more or less powerless. The royal family of Sweden works somewhat like ambassadors, and IMO does a good job of it.

The Swedish democracy makes room for several political parties. Any party receiving more than 4% of the votes on a nation-wide basis will get parliament seats - very few votes are "lost".

I like this combination, and don't want any other system.

We have a constitutional repulic.

A republic is led by representatives of the voters. Each is individually chosen for a set period of time.

In a democracy, the government is elected by the people. Everyone who is eligible to vote - which is a majority of the population - has a chance to have their say over who runs the country.
