WOW what a dismal prospect, and outlook.
I hope All Muslims do not believe that.
I would give them little reason to enjoy life or love their fellow man.

Those of what you call of dismal prospect and outlook could have more love and compassion for their fellow man than you.

Believe me, one day you will see the world as it is...

Apologies :) I do not know, I just believe based on the scriptures.
I understand that and respect it as well. There is nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe. But I also believe that respect for other paths is tantamount to stopping the world from this precipice of war.

I'm Muslim and I think Islam is kinda joyless too. Too many restrictions and regulations :)
How terribly sad my dear one and nice to see you love. I know many Muslims who are very happy and content. I think it depends on how one looks at things. I see Christianity in a similar light which is why that path does not work for me. But I do hope you find happiness my friend. I would hate to see you live a life with no joy.

Heeey, JS :D

I'm actually content, happy and perfectly fine with it. The reason I'm following Islam is not really just to fulfill a desire or find joy, it is more because I believe it is the truth and the honest right thing to do. It's kinda like following my good parents for what they did for me making me who I am even if they have severe issues, or loving good siblings with their problems. They, I can't leave because they cause me boredom and restraints, same as the case with Islam. I feel it is also duty and obligation right next to being the right thing to do (in my beliefs). Having that said, there are allowed joys in Islam. Muslims can get married in whatever path of life they get, sports are allowed, so are the vast majority of foods, hunting, telling jokes, issuing challenges, etc. Basically almost everything is allowed. The thing is that they have many restrictions within. All I have to do is know those restrictions and I'm all good. That does kill so much joy, but joy is still there enough to live with it.

Most restrictions are those concerning gender/sex, both directly and indirectly. That's the main reason I think Islam is kinda joyless :D I personally believe, tho, that restrictions in this specific case are for the good of humanity at least in the long run.

JS, thank you. When you quote me, I have this strange feeling that you're watching over for me with your choice of words showing concern and care, which happened in previous posts. This is really cool and makes me feel good :D. It's really nice seeing you  (Gosh, I'm getting emotional).

Islam and Christianity as interpreted by the Amish.

The former because it severely limits the freedoms of its women and prescribes primitive, sadistic punishments for violations of its credo.

Not all forms/interpretations of Islaam conform to this picture of Islaam.

After 81 years I have seen most aspects of life.
some is joyful and some is painful, but most is just getting on with it.
Joy is like the spoon full of sugar that makes the "medicine go down"
Religion should not be adding to the pain, it should guide us through it with love.

It could be that we have no disagreement ...It may only be that we mean different things by the same word "Joy".

Smart Guy, you are one of the best posters on this forum. I just love when I see something posted by you as I know it will be kind and well thought out. And yes, I am watching over you dear one. As for your faith, I continue to feel that any faith that has restrictions is sad, at least to me. Buddhism has no restrictions insofar as having strict rules. However, that said, there are wrong and right ways of living and if one wants to get to enlightenment, one tries to follow the best path. So I understand that part but again, there are no hard and fast rules one has to follow. And with regard to sex, there are no rules. However, harm to another is a huge no no in this path. But I do understand you find it the best path for you, being Muslim that is.
