I found some interesting similarities between the Buddhist scriptures and the gospel of Jesus.

You might like Paul Carus' version of the Dhammapada then, called "The Gospel of Buddha." It's probably worth it just for the few pages of cross references in the back.

Texts I own that aren't on the list: Lots of Christian patristic texts, lots of Buddhist texts, Eddas, collections of mythology, Christian and Jewish apocryphal writings, lives of saints, Jewish responsa, and Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran service books. Probably more stuff that I'm not thinking of right now.

I'm talking pure content, not aesthetics or projection.

But, I didn't know that the OT was based on the Greek Septuagint. For some reason I thought it was based off both.
Most English translations are based on the Hebrew, though they may use occasional alternate readings from the Septuagint where it's hard to make sense of the Hebrew.

I have several copies of the Bible (a few different versions), the Dhammapada, Tao-te Ching, a Satanic Bible (actually, it's Chads but it's on my bookshelf :) ), and a number of Mythology collections.

Well, that means that the only difference between the Tanak and the OT is just organisation. Or does anybody know of anything else?

You can get The Bahai Resource Library as one BIG huge download from:
Bahai Education - Bahai Software and Education Resources

It includes: Christian, bahai, Buddhist, Tao, Zoroastrian, Hindu, Judaic, Islamic and Sikh holy books full searchable. If you do not have a high-speed conncection you can request a CD in the mail. The CD costs for the disk and the postage and that's it.

No contributions are accepted.

Regards,
Scott
Thanks! Nothing like free education. :D

The old and new testaments in the KJ Version of the bible; but I find the internet a wonderful tool for finding whatever text I want - of any sort.

My family owns the Bhagvad Gita, the Ramayan, the Upanishads, the Bible and the Quran.

I've only ever browsed the Bhagvad Gita and the Ramayan. However, if I can find where the Upanishads are, I will love to take a read. My dad was very much into reading those books long ago, when he was in the beginning stages of being a seeker. :D

However most Hindus in Trinidad learn about the Ramayan and the Gita through Yagnas which are prayer gatherings where scripture is read. :)

I have some of Anton La Vey's stuff because it says very wise things such as " You are your own god responsible for your own good and evil actions".
