How it feels when white people shame your culture’s food — then make it trendy

To worry about someone "appropriating" your culture seems (1) fruitless, because people have appropriated cultures for hundreds of thousands of years (it's called "learning from others"), and they are not likely to stop anytime soon, and (2) petty to worry about because who, say, gives a damn that Italians these days celebrate Christmas with German Christmas trees -- who except wealthy First World pundits with too much time on their hands, and (3) egotistical because it makes other people's lives all about you even though they are doing nothing that really harms you. But, hey! Despite that the idea is fruitless, petty, and egotistical, it is also just moronic enough that tens of thousands of moronic people will support it.

As if white Americans are the only people who have ever shunned something from another culture only to embrace it later...
Personally I'd be more offended that many Americans are dumb enough to believe things like General Tso, fortune cookies, and chop suey are bonafide Chinese dishes (kinda like how many believe Olive Garden provides an authentic Italian dishes). And despite what these food SJW say, I'm going to keep eating Chinese, Japanese, Italian, British, French, Mexican, Indian, Thai, and other dishes that I like.

Early in me and my wife's relationship (she is from a different culture) she made me some food from her native country Korea. Their BBQ is outstanding! She was happy I liked it but then looked on in horror as I added butter, sugar, and milk to her sticky rice. That's the way I have always eaten white rice. She still thinks I'm crazy for eating it that way.
