I've got a better question. Why is mankind on Earth? Surely the worst and most malign cancer on Earth is 'mankind'? We sure do know how to mess up a beautiful ecological system, and all in about 300 years!

Maybe mankind deserves cancer?

No one created cancer.

We are exposed to carcinogens every single day! Our immune system protects us. When our immune system is compromised, then we're at risk.

Just because someone looks healthy it doesn't mean they are.

Cancer might be in our genes but there would be a lot less victims of cancer if people lived like they should instead of poisoning themselves.

For example, some people are genetically prone to be obese, but that's a small minority. Most obese people are overweight because they consume a lot more calories then they burn. Are we going to blame obesity on the genes or are we going to accept that yes, most cases of obesity are people's fault?

Same goes with cancer. Very few non-smokers get lung cancer, although some do and no one really knows why. More than 90% of the people who have lung cancer are smokers. In fact half of the smokers end up contracting a diseased directly linked to smoking. Do you want to blame that on the genes?

Everything we see is consciousness evolving in physical terms.
Within the mind are many things. Within higher-consciousness - the logos - are many things. There they are conceptual.Here they are physical and painful. But everything is its own Self and wishes to survive and do what it does, whatever it might be, good or evil. So we have good things and bad things.

Life is a complicated process, whether one prefers evolution or ID. With so many (thousands upon thousands) chemical processes going on, particularly with DNA replication, there will be errors. Cancer is just an error which results in cells which don't know when to stop reproducing...so they don't stop...they keep dividing & growing. It can be caused by a number of things, eg, chemicals (even naturally occuring ones), cosmic background radiation. Cancer has always been with us. It's part of being a multi-cellular life form. Bummer, man.
